Following on the heels of Halloween, when everyone on Pinterest collectively lost their minds making witches hats and jack-o-lanterns from every possible household item, I thought we’d see what Pinterest is up to for Christmas this year.
Spoiler alert: A LOT.
On Pinterest, there shall be no area of the house, fridge or yard that goes un-christmastified. Yes, I just made up that word. It was necessary.
You have three eggs? That can be snowman. You have a mason jar? That can wear a belt just like Santa. You have a pretzel? That can be a reindeer antler. You get the idea.
SO… if you want to keep up with the Jones, and by the Jones, I mean your cracked out DIY friend who hasn’t actually ever done any DIY but keeps on pinning DIY items on her Christmas board like she has every intention of making her home actually look like the North Pole, you’ll probably want to read this list.
If you celebrated Christmas on Pinterest, what would your holidays look like?

You ladies have a lovely day!
I don’t know how people have the time. We have one tree fully decorated, one three 1/2 decorated and the house decorations still in a box that has at least made it up from the basement.
*tree
People have way to much time on their hands if they can do all of this.
We have the tree up and decorated, stocking Hung and and cards taped to the back of the front door. I dont plan on doing anything else.
Everyone has the same amount of time – 24 hours each day. It’s all in how you choose to spend your time.
Why go on site if you are not interested, this is a fantastic site with plenty of ideas to get kids involved at Christmas
I love Pinterest – it is hilarious. My fantasy house on there is super festive and I totally pinned the Christmas tree napkins on my Christmas board. I will never ever do them but they will look amazing on the Christmas table in my head. In real life I will be mostly using kitchen roll.
That toilet paper caddy is definitely festive….but it would also burn your house down
You just made me lol.
I love looking at things like these, even though I would not take the time to do any of them. They are all very creative and beautiful. I wonder if you can just buy a kit of magnets to make the refrigerator snowman? That would be easy enough….
I laughed when I saw the popsicle sticks one because my daughter made those at school.
So what if I pinned some items on this post??? Haha. Seriously, I did. But thanks for calling it like it is. It’s craft porn. We’re all allowed our guilty pleasures right?
I am TOTALLY doing the penguins sliding down the banister idea for next year! Penguins are my favorite animal so I have a collection of them and they are definitely sliding down my stairs next year!
I have a new holiday hack that I would totally put in Pinterest if I had a blog! I had a gallon ziploc bag full of dreidels – I’m preschool educator and they seem to multiply in my classroom. This year I threw them all in a tall glass vase and stuck it on the coffee table…BAM! I am winning at Hanukah!
Your comment cracked me up. Very cute!
My mom buys my dad a six-pack of seasonal beer every year and sticks it under the tree (along with other presents, of course). I told her she should do the beer reindeer one. She just retired this year, so she totally has the time.
The beer reindeer is super easy and a quick last-minute hostess gift! I have done this a few times, but have to find some other cute thing to bring since I can’t keep it up. Can you say “regifting?”
I have found that 90% of Pinterest has crafts/designs that either require tons of money (antique sleds, antique suitcases, leftover wood paneling from redoing the floors on a 2500 sq ft house…) or tons of time and money.
There are a few in there that are worth it, I try to be realistic when I pin those. Some though are absolutely outrageous and I see people pinning them by the hundred thousands!
The acorns are ADORABLE!
Totally loved this list! Thank you for sharing 🙂
I think your Christmastree napkins are fabulous. But I need better= written instructions on how to fold them. I take it these are paper napkins?
I thougt I followed the instructions but ended up with a wad of green paper and was very disappointed
The napkins are really very easy to do. The pictures on how to fold them are not very clear. Napkin must be square. Number 2, should be number 1. Fold the napkin the long way and then bring it over to form a square. Turn to face you (it should now look like a diamond shape) with the open ends down. I found it much easier to fold the point of the napkin up first, and then bring the fold up. This also eliminates steps 11,12 and 13. Now turn your napkin over and follow steps 8,9 and 10.

At the rate I’m going I’ll skip the napkin Christmas trees and stocking silverware “holders” and just shove my forks and knives into a toilet paper tube and call it a day.
Thanks for making me smile today!
I love Pinterest and surf it regularly. While I probably will never use anything I pin, i enjoy looking at the creative ideas … even the over-the-top ones. It feeds my somewhat feeble creative side and often sparks laughter. At the age of 71 laughter helps keep me feeling younger than I am.

My mom actually looked at a bunch of these and said, “I thought about making that!” Of course, she actually made all of her ornaments for a Victorian Christmas tree one year and strung popcorn and cranberries another. Thankfully, she did none of them this year.
You all make me feel so much better lol. I thought I was the only one out here that decorating my house feels like I am in charge of decorating Mall Of America..
Oh, and my family’s lives depend on my quality of work!

Laughed out loud & had a hard time stopping over the comment on skipping the stoccking silverware holders & just using the toilet paper rolls to stick the silverware into! What a hoot, but not a bad idea!
I loved these pictures, Ilana. Thank you so much for taking the time to find them and blog them! I love Christmastime and how beautiful it is. These made me smile! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Craft porn! Gotta love it. So glad I’m not the only one pinning away but who’ll be lucky to even stick the silverware in empty toilet paper rolls. Lol!! Seriously, thanks for providing some great but easy ideas (anyone need acorns? We’ll have tons before Christmas.) and the removal of guilt for not making my home look like the Mall of America at Christmas.
