As many of you know, I share an office with my friend Seri, the party planner known as Little Miss Party. This past year, Seri and her partner Michelle launched Little Miss Party in a Box, which puts together all the party supplies you need based on specific themes. We used their birthday party box for Harlow’s second birthday last year. The idea is to make party planning so easy, anybody can do it.

So. When Little Miss Party recently launched their new Spring Party in a Box, Seri thought it would be fun to ask our husbands to put it together for a Mother’s Day Brunch.

“Are you sure you want Mike and Adam to set up your party????”

She was sure.

We even took the kids to the park so they could set up completely on their own.

All they had was the box, the supplies, Little Miss Party blue prints and a photographer (my new friend Dave Robbins) to capture their every move.

Otherwise, how would we know that they drank a glass of scotch before attempting to decorate?

After the boys were sufficiently intoxicated, they got to work.

Hanging paper lanterns…

Arranging two-day-old flowers in whatever vessels they could find…

Fixing broken stems with tape…

And cutting cucumbers to fancy up a carafe of water…

Mike might not know how to handle a flower without it losing half its petals, but he does have attention to detail.

Then they scoured the cabinets for assorted dishes…

Placed the bagels and cupcakes on platters…

And arranged everything on the table just so…

Somehow, despite the scotch and the tape, it turned out looking like this…

Seri and I returned with the kids a little under an hour later and the boys were already on the couch watching television.

Good thing, they got up to say “Hi”.

And then a wonderful pre-Mother’s Day Brunch was had by all.

I should have had more faith in the hubs.
