This week’s kid news includes a marriage proposal, a car birth caught on camera, a toddler who got into a fight with a restaurant owner (team toddler!), and a two-year-old who likes to eat corn while wearing a wig.
1) 4yo Cancer Patient Marries Her Favorite Nurse
This week, 4yo year-old Abby announced big plans to marry her nurse, Matt Hickling. The amazing hospital staff at Melodies Center of Childhood Cancers made her dreams come true by throwing together a wedding ceremony complete with a proposal (he said yes) and an exchange of ring pops.
2) Toddler Cries in Restaurant and Proprietor Loses Her Damn Mind
Darla Neugebauer, the owner of Marcy’s Diner in Portland, ME, is getting a lot of attention for her reaction to a toddler’s meltdown during the breakfast rush last Saturday. After a hangry toddler got fussy while waiting for her pancakes, middle-aged Darla decided to throw a tantrum of her own, screaming at the kid to quiet down or get tossed out. The toddler’s mom left a comment on the diner’s FB page and the owner responded, as you can read below. She’s a peach, ain’t she?
Kudos to that toddler for performing one of the most famous tantrums of the year!
3) 8yo Girl and 97yo Grandma Bust a Move
A 97 year-old Grandma proved she still has some moves while dancing with her 8yo granddaughter. I only hope I will be half as fun and half as limber when I’m a grandma one day.
4) Baby born in moving vehicle, dad/Driver films the whole thing
We’ve all heard stories about a mom who didn’t quite make it to the hospital but very few get captured on video, for obvious reasons. Well, a new dad in Texas finally put our curious minds to rest by filming his baby’s birth while driving his laboring wife to the hospital.
There’s nothing too graphic in the video but there’s a fair amount of screaming and for what it’s worth, I find it totally insane. She was giving birth to a 10 lb baby in a moving vehicle and her husband wasn’t even keeping his eyes on the road! There aren’t enough meds in the world for me to get over that shit.
In truth, I’m actually pretty impressed with the husband who supported his wife, knew what to do with the baby and made everyone relax that it would all be just fine.
6. Harlow wears red wig to eat corn
Two-year-old Harlow surprised her parents the other night by entering the kitchen in a red wig, Tinkerbell heels and a baby bib. What does one do in such a get-up? Eat corn of course. Harlow demanded the whole cob.
