Back when Mazzy was just a wee thing, changing her was more a novelty than a chore. Once you got the hang of it, you felt almost proud of your increasing agility with those little flip tabs. We have a dresser we use as a changing table and we put one of those foam contoured changing pads on top. There were two straps on the bottom of the pad that looked like they were meant to attach the pad to the dresser but since we had come up with the ingenious idea of putting a Rubbermaid mat underneath the pad so it wouldn't slip and felt no need to attach the pad officially, I cut those stupid straps off.
Flash forward to present day. Not only does Mazzy hate to be changed, but she has developed these ridiculous back muscles so that when you pick up her feet, she arches her back in the air and spins herself towards the wall so that literally only the top of her head is touching the table and you are stuck with her ass in your face, wondering how the hell you are ever going to get a diaper on it. If only there was something attached to the foam changing pad that could strap her down!!! What? Oh… right.
(sigh.)
Not so bad. We used to change Trace on a rusty music stand that was anchored in a tub of filled with glass shards and wishful thinking.
Just be glad she can’t shoot a stream of pee all over the place while twisting. The joys of raising a baby boy!
Craig- I thought you reserved the glass shards for homemade rattle filler.
Debbie- ever try the pee-pee tee-pee? Being a parent is ridiculous.

Yes, it really fun having to wipe the walls and window down after Jake pees all over them during the 2 secs time period where the diaper is not on. Its almost as if he’s waiting for that very moment to take a leak all over his blue walls 🙂
Too funny! What a great story. Thanks for sharing. Stopping by from Mama Kat’s.
those straps are also useful for keeping baby from rolling OFF the change table. *not that I ever had to deal with that ;)*
LOL Too funny! I have never used a changing table. I just change them on the floor. And when they start the back arching nonsense, I pin them with my feet while changing the diaper! Stopping by from Mama Kat’s.
Alligator roll! We did the floor thing too. But, only because I was too lazy to restock the changing table area or go upstairs.
Love your blog by the way!
