At every baby shower I've ever been to, about 85% of the gifts are newborn clothes. Adorable, delicate, preciously petite newborn clothes. Each of which your baby will wear once before they cover it with spit up and grow out of before you even have a chance to throw it in the wash. (How's that working out for you, Rachel Zoe?)
There are always a few people who give clothes that are way too big. And you're like— GREAT. What the hell am I supposed to do with a jumper for a 6-9 month old? That's like EONS away!
Well, we all know better now. Time passes quickly and all of a sudden your kooky aunt who knitted a sweater in the middle of the summer fit for a 2 year-old, seems like the most forward-thinking person ever.
If you're looking for a forward-thinking gift for a friend who's having a baby, you should check out a new baby gear of the month club called Citrus Lane. Each month, a beautifully packaged box of carefully selected baby products— specifically tailored to match the baby's age— is delivered straight to the new mom's door.
Citrus Lane sent me their Deluxe Shower Box (pictured above) which included a swaddle blanket from SwaddleDesigns, a Pearheads Baby Print Tin, Green Sprouts Organic Cotton Mitts, a Cloud B Sleep Sheep rattle, Zoe Organcs Mommy-To-Be Tea and a $50 Minted Gift Card to make baby announcements or thank you cards.
In other words, this is not a bunch of crap in a basket.
Other boxes are named things like "Welcome Home" (pictured below), "Starting Solids", "Outdoor Play" and "Going Out" and include high quality parent-recommended brands like Aden & Anais, Boon, Baby Bjorn, and Skip*Hop. Boxes go from 0-18 months and are each worth $25, with a gift subscription starting at 3 months for $75.
I really think a three month subscription would make an awesome in-the-know baby shower gift with the added benefit of reminding the recipient of how awesome and in-the-know you are on a monthly basis. But in case my word isn't enough, Citrus Lane is letting me give away a box today for free, just for commenting below.
Winner gets to select the box of their choosing and can keep it for themselves or give it as a gift.
I'm giving my Deluxe Shower Box to my childhood friend and loyal reader, Carol, who just delivered her first baby on August 19th. Welcome to the world, Sadie Rose! Now your mom can stop sending me pictures of her dog every time I ask for baby photo submissions.
Carol submitted the photo below for the Baby Fashion Showdown:
And here's her new baby, Sadie:
She's very cute.
But she's totally gonna lose The Glare-Off.

Thank you to Citrus Lane for providing me with this opportunity to review a Citrus Lane gift box. While this post is sponsored, the opinions expressed here are completely my own.
I do think that is a lovely idea, for a yummy box like that to turn up at a mother’s doorstep every month with goodies. Citrus Lane, you need to come to Malaysia!
My sister bought our car seat and that was huge because we were completely struggling financially but we, of course, didn’t want to sacrifice safety so it was a huge relief to have an item that was used everyday for over a yeear.
All the gifts we received off of our registry. It was so helpful to get the things we needed instead of a bunch of blankets and stuffed animals.
The best baby shower gift…I too thought of our car seat. But I am going to go with a six-pack of 3-ply cloth diapers meant to be used as burp cloths. I have used those cloths every single day since our dear daughter was born, and I like having one in every room of the house.
This sounds so lame, but we live in an apartment that is not quite big enough for all the fancy pants, monster changing tables. As a result, my favorite and most used gifts were changing pads. Yay for no shit on my floors!! PS – Citrus Lane is a genius.
Best gifts ever were the swaddle blankets! OMG! I wrapped that baby like the tightest burrito you ever saw and she slept like a freakin’ rock since she came home! (I swear I’m not rubbing it in, just advocating these blankets!)
And I LOVE this good stuff basket idea! I usually try to do this on my own but what person in their right mind doesn’t love a great present delivered?! This is awesome!!
Best shower gift I ever got was a friend who swore to come hang out every 3 days. I thought she was nuts, but she came over every 3 days the first month so I could shower. While I was in there she folded towels. I seriously owe her my life 🙂 ((She’s preggo again so if I win this is for her))
I received many gifts that helped me survive my first baby (Its-Been Timer, Aden & Anais Swaddle Wraps, and even my Bob stroller that we took everywhere!) Even though they were great gifts, I have to say the best present was from my cousin, Sara, who already had two kiddos herself. What was it you ask? It was the Lansinoh nipple cream. That squeeze bottle went in my pocket with me EVERYWHERE! I had never heard of it before, but I was so fortunate for her to get it for me. Both my boobs and I are forever thankful for her gift!
The best shower gift I got was a dozen cd’s that my girlfriend made with the best chiildrens music. She knew I would gauge my eyes out with a fork if I had to listen to the crazy baby music out there. I have a long commute with my little guy so she had us both in mind when she made them. One cd is of Elizabeth Mitchell who is like Allison Kraus for kids and I can totally handle a whole hour of her music.
I was lucky to get a TON of use out of my newborn clothes because Caitlyn is such a teeny thing. She’s 16 months and still mostly wears 6-9 month clothes… it’s funny to see things people bought her for LAST summer that were size 6 months and ENORMOUS but fit her perfectly this summer.
My apartment is tiny so I chose one of those high chairs that you strap to your regular chairs as a space saver. Well, one of my friends called me a week before my shower and said “I hate the high chair you picked. It’s ugly and I want to get you a different one, is that okay?”. And I said yes. And I’m really glad I did. It especially came in handy when Caitlyn first started solids because she was so tiny and the high chair my friend picked for her had an insert for smaller babies, which I used till she was at least 10 months old. So yeah. High chair was probably my fave.
And I have 2 sisters-in-law and a good friend who all had babies last week. I would DEFINITELY gift that box to one of them!
Our best baby gift was the Bugaboo stroller – which we used as a bassinet for the first 3-4 months. Our son was a preemie and fit perfectly in the bassinet until we could finish up the nursery.
I love this idea – my son was 10lbs at birth and didn’t get to wear about 90% of his shower gifts. So the best gift I got was probably the Baby Einstein Ocean Wonders baby gym, which he loved for months.
Of course this pales in comparison to the baby gift I got with my first (we lived overseas and didn’t have a shower) – a bottle of raspberry vodka!
The best gift we got was probably the swing. That thing was a lifesaver!
HA HA HA! Funny Audrey! I still keep a tube in the med cabinet for kids chapped lips and cheeks that stuff is so awesome!
The best gift I got for Baby #1 were those nightgown that are extra long with no zippers, snap or anything, just elastic. Baby needs a diaper change you just lift up the sleepdress.
Best gift I got for Baby #2? Was a personalized pillow with his name on it. Second kid never gets anything as good as the first especially not unique gifts for them. I really appreciated that!
The best shower gifts for each of my first two daughters were homemade crocheted blankets from their great-grandmother (my husband’s grandmother). The girls are now 6 and 3 and those blankets are treasured. Great-grandma passed away in June, and we are expecting daughter #3 in a few weeks, and I’m desperately trying to learn how to crochet from a pattern so this baby can have a special blanket too!
I saw this at Little Henhouse, too, and I LOVE this idea. Lovelovelove. (Also, wantwantwant)
My best baby shower present? Was a book about a “Nicholas” because the person thought that’s what we were naming our son. It wasn’t. We named him Thomas.
Hands down, the Diaper Genie. I love this concept of getting new stuff every month without having to go shopping!
Seems like I saw a toy rental site that did something similar to Netflix. That’s a great idea, too!
“Go the F**k to Sleep” by Adam Mansbach. Hands down, best baby shower gift. Gave me some humor when I was ready to…. well, lose it.
Nose Frida. It’s a straw. You shove one end up your baby’s nose and put the other end in your mouth. Then you suck the snot out. Best – most disgusting – invention ever.
It is not very exciting, but one of the greatest gifts was a $50 Target gift card. I bought a lot of diapers with that money!
A week full of meals from a premade meal place. Loved it that i bought even more weeks. Since both my babies were in the NICU for weeks it helped out a lot.
My best gift was a bag full of infant tylenol, infant motrin, thermometer, medicine droppers, toothbrush, nail clippers and nail files, gas drops, plastic take and toss sippy cups and bowls and a gift certificate. I believe there was more but it was all essentials that I would need and use (and I sure did), no fun stuff or clothes that we hated (got lots of that). It saved us from many midnight trips to the drugstore when our first son had a temp, or needed medicine or gas drops. I never would have thought to buy that stuff for ourselves and was so glad when I already had the stuff available to use when the time came.
Diaper pail, hands down!
Of course UPPAbaby Vista stroller ranks at the top, but the best gift that we received that I didn’t know about and therefor hadn’t registered for was the UPPAbaby Cabana. It fits over most car seats and it has a bug shield and sun shield that is SPF 50. We used it constantly. AND, found that it was a good shield from strangers who thought it necessary to stick their faces in his or try to touch him.
Diapers, diapers and more diapers! Especially the ones bigger than newborn size.
When I had the twins, my friends bought me 5 nights with my post partum doula since she was also a newborn night nurse. Any idea how priceless that was?
best gift was ‘meal delivery” Friends and relatives brought us food after the baby was born.. That was the best. Not having to even think about cooking and having a hot meal done for you! just heaven!!
The best shower gift I received was actually a gift basket full of bath goodies (bubble bath, bath gel, bath oil, beads, etc) for me and not baby. I guess my mother-in-law really knew how bad I was going to need a relaxing bubble bath after baby arrived. Granted, I didn’t get to use it as early as I planned, but when the time came, it was wonderful.
I got an exersaucer for my babyshower at work. It was a monstrosity and I did not use it for the first six months. Storage wasn’t an issue, so it wasn’t in the way. And then the day came where babyboy was crawling everywhere and I could not cook dinner without him trying to kill himself in my child proofed home. Lightbulb moment and out came it. And with it returned my sanity
I got a Miracle Blanket, and cash. Awesome.
Angel Baby Earth Mama Booby Tubes & Nipple Butter. Not sure I would have survived breastfeeding otherwise.
Tequilla! Hands down. At my baby shower gave me two bottles of good tequilla, a bag of limes, mixer, two cactus shaped glasses, and a shaker/strainer all arranged cute in a little gift basket. Best gift ever. I can still use it, even though my son is now 7.
The best gift I received wasn’t a shower gift, but the actual baby shower. We adopted our little boy and a month after the adoption was final, all of my neighbors through the best shower for us! The added bonus was the guest got to meet the little guy!
My husband gave me a little recorder to bring to my Ultrasound to record the babies heartbeat. I didnt really understand why until i opened my gift from him at my baby shower and he went to build a bear and had the recorder put inside. Now everytime i squeeze the bear’s hand i can hear my little guys heart beat forever. Such a precious gift!!
I received a wonderful mobile with a 15 minute timer that allowed me to take a shower for the first six months of my son’s life. Everyone I came into contact with during that time appreciated it too.
The best Gift at my baby shower was a Sanitation Supply Kit my mother made for my husband…it had familiar tools (goggles, plastic drop cloth, BBQ tongs) that were re-purposed for the chore of changing diapers (eye protection for projectile pee, carpet protection, poopie diaper picker upper)all packed into a tool box! It was a huge hit and since my husband had ZERO baby experience and, frankly, was still new to the English language (He’s from another country), it was a riot watching him figure out what each item was for…everyone (including him) had a good laugh and a lot of the stuff came in handy after our son was born!
The best gift I got was a Forever Bed. It converts from a crib to a child’s bed to a full bed. My little boy still sleeps on it.The best gift I got was a Forever Bed. It converts from a crib to a child’s bed to a full bed. My little boy still sleeps on it.
My best gift wasn’t an actual Gift. At my Baby shower for my first child, My mother invited Me, My Fiancé, The Baby and our Dog to come and live at her house, rent free for a few months until I was back on my feet. I move over an hour away to be with my Fiancé and my entire Family unit was all within 20 minutes of my Mother’s house. After the baby was born we moved down and my Mother moved in with her Boyfriend so we could have the entire house. Her boyfriend then gave my Fiancé a job in his company. I couldn’t have asked for something more comforting and helpful than to be amongst my family and still have my Fiancé working so we didn’t fall behind on things
The shower gift that ended up being the best was the most stupid f*cking thing someone could have got me at the time. I hated it! I wanted to scream and cry like a baby because it wasn’t the cute little layette set that I saw at Target. I was 16 when my oldest daughter was born 14 years ago. My mom’s best friend gave me her entire supply of used cloth diapers that she had so lovingly gotten every stain out of and only gave me the nicer looking ones that looked new.
I HATED them! They were old crusty diapers that were 16 years old (her son was the same age as I was)I was not planning on cloth diapering and she knew it. To my spoiled stupid teenage self, it was her shoving her crunchy parenting advice down my throat.
Those old crusty old diapers turned out to be the best shower gift ever! I used them for everything including diapers when my baby girl would get a rash and needed some fresh air to clear up her red butt. They were used as burp rags, pee catchers, and cleaning rags. I still have a few floating around my rag bag 14 years later.
Baby spoons, bowls, and a starter sippy cup, hands down. At the time I thought it was the silliest gift ever for a newborn, but at 6 months when we started solids I didn’t have to buy any tools and when my son weaned himself at 10 months we went straight into sippy cups (he hated bottles and refused to use them!). Super smart thinking from my cousin!
definitely a handmade quilt from the family (mom) of one of the kids I was tutoring that summer. it was beautiful, it was heartfelt, and I knew I would keep it forever. and so would my own children. handmade gifts are THEE best thing ever. a handmade scrapbook from a good friend comes in a close second.
The best thing that I got for my baby shower WAS my baby shower. After going into labor at 24 weeks and a subsequent three months of bedrest (one month hospitalized) I never thought I would make it to my shower! It became my victory party for making it that far and a thank you celebration to honor all of the lovely girls who were my support for those very trying months. In hindsight the swag seems completely secondary.
Hmmm, we received so many awesome gifts but I think plain old diapers were the best things. Especially those first few weeks.
My husbands cousin made the most adorable baby blanket that my daughter still enjoys at over two years. Also, everyone put down advice in a box and that was really helpful.
my husbands boss paid for 2 weeks of a night nurse for my twins- best gift EVER!
The best shower gift I received, by far, was a set of Koala Kuddles muslin swaddling blankets. Talk about a useful gift! We used these adorable blankets for swaddling, as nursing covers, and now continue to use them as lightweight blankets for naps and nighttime sleep (we live in Texas and it is HOT in the summer – no need for anything heavier). Koala Kuddles has a Facebook page, and I also found this great description of the blankets from a former Baby Half-Off sale:
http://babyhalfoff.com/blog/2011/03/18/koala-kuddles-muslin-swaddling-blankets-50-off/
My Mom spent months crocheting a blanket for my daughter and gave it to me at my shower. Of all the gifts we received that day this was the most thoughtful and moving. Maybe it was the hormones but it moved me to tears. And my little girl sleeps with it every night, she calls it her Mimi Blankie (because she calls Grandma ‘Mimi’). BEST GIFT EVER!
I have to say that diapers were the best gift. We didn’t find out what we were having, and people were apparently at a total loss as to what to buy us, so we ended up with tons of diapers and wipes. I didn’t have to buy any for the first few months. It was awesome.
The best gifts come from the veteran moms. My lifesaving favorite gift was mylicon drops! I include one box in every baby shower gift!
A Jog stroller from my shower hostesses! I never thought anyone would buy it for me 🙂
I am a follower on facebook. My favorite baby shower gift was the diaper cake my sister in law made. There were enough size 1s to last us until my son was out of them and we still have some left for our next baby!
demureprincess7(at)gmail(dot)com
This is fantastic! So glad you finally posted a picture of my dog! 😉
LOVE the post and thank you for the amazing gift!!
My best friend is a childrens clothing designer, as a gift to me she designed a new dress and named it “The Mendy Dress” after my mother who had recently passed away. It was a very touching moment. I was trying to read the card outload for everyone at the shower to hear but I couldn’t get it all out through the tears.
I think the best gift I got was…DIAPERS! When my little girl was first born she would shoot out a little bit of poop with every fart, which was over 20 times a day (& I’m not exaggerating!) then she would immediately start to cry as if someone was trying to kill her and she wouldn’t stop until I changed her diaper. if she sneezed she farted, if she coughed she farted, if she yelled when she was crying she farted! oh gosh…I was shocked when my mom said she would go through about 12 diapers a day and my baby went above that!
The best gift that I received was a hand stitched hankie baby hat to be used for the Christening and then for the baby’s wedding in years to come…something old and something new!
The best shower gift I recieved was all the furniture needed for my little guy’s bedroom. My mom knew I was completely unprepared so she said lets go to babies r us and take a look around. She then said, this is my first grandbaby so pick out what you need because I brought my credit card. Three thousand dollars later I had a dream bedroom for David and no make up left on from tears of joy. Thanks Mom! Love you!
Swaddle-Me swaddling blanket, hands down. Our baby was an 11 lb. 6 oz. Houdini and could escape from any normal blanket swaddle, but not those. Day 2 home from the hospital my husband started panicking that we only had 1, and drove around town looking in baby shops until he found 2 more.
The best gift we received, hands down, was from my parents – two weeks of a baby nurse. When she fed him at 4am so I could get 6 hours of sleep in a row, I may have loved her as much as I loved the baby.
the best baby shower gift we received was a handmade quilt from my sister…. who never once let on that she was tackling a quilt (she can sew but who KNEW)… the other things we received… paled in comparison. (altho the maclaren umbrella stroller is still rockin&rollin & our lil guys almost 4 now).
Our Boppy was the best gift we recieved at my baby shower. I was attached to that thing at the hip, literally, for the whole first year of my daughter’s life while I nursed her. I made sure to leave in her room each night for the night feedings and bring it back out to the living room for her first morning feeding. I don’t think I would have survived breastfeeding as long as I did without it!
Best gift ever was my svan high chair. Love it since it changes into a big kid seat and then an adult seat! We loved it so much we bought one for our second son too!
The Baby Bjorn Bouncer was the BEST gift ever. We could take it anywhere, when sick Grant would sleep in it. He pooped a ton in it and it washed up great. I sent a second thank you a year after receiving it because it was so awesome.
Best gift received was a paycheck during my unpaid maternity leave courtesy of two very caring inlaws. They wanted to be sure that I could stay home as long as I could with my new little guy and not have to worry about finances. They are the best!
Love the items, the A+A, Skip*Hop, sigh.
What was the best baby shower gift you received? This
http://www.amazon.com/DEX-Products-Sound-Sleeper-SS-01/dp/B00008439C
unlike other “noise” machines it has a timer OR it can stay on all night long. Woot! It plugs in AND had batteries, volume control, you can mix noises from each selection to make custom noises… I am a “rain” fan.
Runner up is this
http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Precious-Planet-Projection-Mobile/dp/B001GQ2SA2/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1316104588&sr=1-1
it is baby crack. No kidding. My friend raved about it and I was like, uh, ok, and registered for it. My kid LOVED it. It has a remote! The mobile part comes off and its a projector!
If only I had realized how easy it was to entertain her at that age…
I already like you on FB. The best baby shower gift I ever received was diapers. Seriously. That’s all I really wanted.
A bottle of bourbon and a free night of babysitting. My friends know me well.
We got this hideous black-and-white spotted chicken, with rattles and jingles and rubber chew feet and sparkly crinkly wings – swear to god, it was an actual infant toy. But that thing was about the ONLY thing that captured our daughter’s attention until she was like 2 months old – we called it the Frickin’ Chicken and we worshipped it.
When my first baby was born I was working at a fire department regionalizing the mass decontamination and hazardous materials teams in a ten county metro area. One of the best gifts I received was a diaper tower decorated with bath and diapering products and toys topped with a giant star that red “the REAL HazMat Decon Kit.” This came from a firefighter on a decon team and his wife…a lovely couple.
Since we’re Jewish, I didn’t have a baby shower with all the superstitious paranoid people (Nope, Crib wasn’t put together until after she was born either). But The best gift I got from her baby-naming ceremony was a beautiful hand-painted wooden jewelry box with her name on it.
Of all the things bought form our twins, the very best gift was from my aunts. They made dinner for my husband and I 3-4 times A WEEK for the first three months. It was awesome. And literally the only times we had hot meals in the beginning! I was one very lucky new mom!
That is awesome.
The people who threw my shower requested that everyone use a children’s book in lieu of a card. I loved that! We got so many great books and they are all signed on the inside by the person who gave it.
Check out lionbrandyarn.com, they have videos. I learnt to crochet there.
For our first and second (due October 4th) we received nursery furniture. It has helped us out tremendously.
A friend of mine said screw the baby, let’s focus on the mommy and got me the best robe and sweatpants from The Gap. I literally wore those things every single day of my maternity leave (when nothing else fit!). Still love them!
who can remember? my youngest is a year old tomorrow and his early months are still a fuzzy blur of sleep deprivation and spit-up. he had stuff? we had a shower? was i there? ummm.
i guess i’ve most enjoyed the little steamer/food processor my mom got me because she knows how disgusting i find jarred baby “food.” so my babies eat real food. love that thing.
Hello! My favorite baby shower gift was a gift basket with bottles and larger plastic bibs for when she is starting solids. I appreciated it so much because it was practical and wasn’t more clothes!!! Ultimately, my favorite gift was the nursery furniture my family bought for the baby, but it wasn’t a “shower” gift.
Cute gift idea! One of my best friends gave birth last weekend!
The best gift that we received was a video monitor. We have a tiny house and have never needed the sound but it is so nice not to have to go into the room to see that baby is okay. Helped with sleep training too.
Best shower gift: none of them. The most used item for both my last babies was a Jack Johnson CD that played every time my babies had trouble falling asleep. Also, the old-school snuggie they discontinued many years ago. Had both the seat and the kangaroo pouch. The Kanga pouch was fantastic for nursing-on-the-go. Plastic hardware, though, so I imagine a real tubbo baby and a real lazy parent yielded quite an accident.
The best gift we received wasn’t in a box or bag but both of my sisters. My husband were transitioning from grad school to real life and my younger sisters were letting us live with them, in their basement, and when we had our son Wes they were such a help to us. When my husband went back to work, almost always one of them was there. I didn’t have to worry about making dinner, doing dishes, watching dogs, doing laundry for weeks and whenever I needed to shower, or nap, or just take a minute they were always there to help me. I hope that one day I am able to do the same for them!
My friend made me the most gorgeous and unexpected baby blanket, crocheted from 7 different colors. It matches my son’s nursery perfectly.
FB fan too!
Ahhhh…. THE best gift I received was a “Mama Mio Deluxe Pampering for Supermamas” gift box. Lovely oils and creams to pamper ME ME ME! I had the baby shower a week or so before baby was due and I specifically recall my mom patting my arm as I was contracting (It was REALLY annoying) and commenting, “OH MY!!! Your skin is soooo soft! What DO you use?!?!?!”
My parents own a furniture repair and upholstery shop. My 20 year old brother was really excited for me to have this baby…it was the first nephew and my brother was a sports guy who wanted to show this little one how to do all the boy things like baseball and soccer (my husband is not a sports guy). So he found a small rocker frame and upholstered a chair for me with my soon to be son’s first name embroidered on it.
I know it wasn’t the most necessary thing, but it was such a cool idea and something my son still uses today (he’s 6). It was a perfect gift from my little brother, and because he MADE it – so much better.
The best shower gift I received was a beautiful handmade quilt from one of my husband’s coworkers (whom I had never even met). Second best: gift cards.
wine. but that was for me, not the baby.
for the baby – the bundle me. logan was born in december, but thanks to the bundle me, we didn’t need a winter coat. all he needed was a tee shirt and that bundle me, which was great because he sweats like a man.
Hmmm…I think the best gift we got was the Snug Bunny baby swing from Fisher Price, and diapers, we used those very quickly.
The best gift I received at my first baby shower was a 24 pack of white washcloths. Boobs leaking?-shove a few in the bra. baby messy?-wipe him down. Husband snoring while you’re awake breastfeeding?-Whip him (gently) in the face.
As silly as it sounds….a duck tub. My son hated baths for the longest time, until we put the duck tub in the big tub. Tears were never shed again. Because of a stupid, giant quacking duck. Go figure.
I did not have a baby shower because I could not think of a polite way to make my friends throw me one. I would like to win this to show my pregnant friends how not-bitter I am about that. But I know it’s all about the random number generator. That thing is always ignoring me. Curse you, random number generator.
My favorite gift to give includes the alcohol test strips for when you’re breast feeding. The best I received, hands down, was the “magic box” that included his swing!
Hmmmm. I would say the best gift was all the little things I may have forgotten… tylenol, gas drops, nail clippers, etc. I mean, who buys gas drops? I won’t need them! Until you do and you’re digging wild-eyed through the box in the baby’s room please god stop the screaming.
Those gift boxes are genius!! What a great great idea!
It’s not a very unique answer, but the best baby shower gift we received was the Fisher Price baby swing – that thing was a life-saver!
The best “gift I didn’t know I needed” was a towel apron. I’m sure it has a better name than that, but it’s basically a ktichen apron made out of a super cozy bath towel. You wear it when bathing a baby to keep your clothes dry, but when bath time is over you wrap the baby right in the apron – no need to reach for a towel. Newborns are slippery coming out of a tub…
Almost every gift was fantastic there were a few handmade pink things with teddy bears on them (we were having a boy) that were questionable, but I LOVED my picky sticky, sticky picky what ever they were called age stickers that my sister bought me. We had the best time each month documenting Aiden’s growth and at the end of the year I had enough pictures to create a great memory book.
Good story!
Those are sweet! I would pick one that wasn’t featured because I enjoy surprises. The best unexpected shower gift I received was a mei tai baby carrier. I was highly skeptical when I opened it at the shower and was perfunctorily thankful, but I use it everyday now. It’s great for walking outside or in stores or keeping a fussy baby close. i registered for a bjorn, but I have back problems and it killed me (my husband however loves it). I have thanked the friend who got it for me several times since then, it was so thoughtful and unexpected!

What was the best baby shower gift you received?
Pacifiers!!! Sadly, the best. Eli only used his paci at bedtime, but oh how he looked forward to his paci time. And it made putting him down to sleep soooooooooooooo much easier.
The best thing I got was my video monitor. As a new mom, I admit, I was a little *nervous* about my son being in one room and me in another. Another great thing I got was all the 3-6 month clothes. People apparently knew I was going to need them right from day one. My son was born at 10lbs 9oz, so there was nothing newborn about him! I guess I could have taken some insight to all the gifts and got a clue when my belly was measuring 4.5 feet around…
