Giveaway: Two Handmade Mobiles from Baby Jives, one given away on Instagram and one given away on the blog
I have yet to move Harlow into Mazzy’s room, since we are still working on getting Mazzy’s sleep habits under control. In case you are curious, Mazzy now has a cold and wakes up every fifteen minutes screaming for a tissue, even though I make her sleep with an entire box.
Mazzy’s antics haven’t stopped me from getting Harlow’s side of the room ready, which mostly means we must stop using Harlow’s crib as a conveniently accessible storage container and the world’s largest hamper.
I’d also like to create a space that feels just as special as Mazzy’s side of the room, without duplicating it. That’s a tough job when you consider Mazzy’s got a gorgeous custom quilt from Cheeky Handmades hanging above her bed.
Then I stumbled on the beautiful handmade mobiles from Baby Jives, and knew Harlow had to have one.
Baby Jives mobiles are created by Jahje Ives, who says her creations are inspired by her four-year-old son, Gavril and her one-year-old daughter, Elodie. In fact, Jahje started making mobiles during her first pregnancy when she couldn’t find anything she liked enough to hang over the baby’s crib.
The name Baby Jives was derived from the name she and her husband gave their unborn child while he was in utero, which is a combination of their names— Joe and Ives.
FYI- Mazzy was Yoko Ono while in the womb, later nicknamed Yolkie. You know, like an egg. Harlow was nothing. You know, because she’s a second child.
I love the Baby Jives cloud mobiles the most because they remind me of a modern handcrafted version of the satin hearts and stars I used to have hanging from my ceiling in the eighties. Except these have a tasteful zen quality as opposed to a Lisa Frank aesthetic.
But Baby Jives also makes mobiles in many variations including birds, planes, and butterflies.
You can hang one or hang a few at varying lengths to great effect.
I finally decided on the white puffy cloud with the gold stars and little moon for Harlow.
Today, I’ve got two opportunities for you to win a Baby Jives handmade mobile of your choice (in the form of a $60 gift card which should cover both a mobile and shipping.)
I’m giving one mobile away on instagram and one mobile away on the blog so I don’t leave anyone out.
On instagram, please see my feed (@mommyshorts) for rules which include reposting the graphic at the top of this post to #instashorts_dreams.

our first baby was peanut, this second one… sad to admit, nothing.
I called my son Noah Bamboa, but now I call him Noah bear. I thought Noah Bamboa was cool until he came out so sweet and innocent, it sounded too rough for him.
I tweeted the contest. Username is ashleestoeppler
And pinned it
We referred to our girl as Babu. It came about before we could tell people we were preggers and my husband and I would text each other about ourexcitement about “baby” and many times it would come out as babu (the Y on the keyboard is beside the u)…and Babu stuck! We still call her that sometimes even though she is about to be 1 yr old.
Baby QT 2013, then Baby Violet.
I pinned it!
My oldest was ocean
My second I called Louisiana and was convinced I was actually going to name her that til I saw her.
And my son was apple.
My first was Flicker. I had a miscarriage for my first pregnancy. Then for my second I was hemorrhaging for sure thought it was another miscarriage. Went to ER thinking it was over I was going through this again! Then the tech said do you see that Flicker, it’s the baby! I will never forget that moment! From then on Flicker it was. Just as you said for my second… no name she’s the second baby.
Pinned ! Liked both fb page. We called our baby Junebug, we didn’t know the sex and the baby was gonna be born in sweet june, so it stuck . I hope I win it for my. New niece
Nedrick for Ella and Mofanzo for Jed.
Peanut, and then other people started calling her “Baby No Name” once it got ridiculously close to her due date and we STILL hadn’t decided on a name 🙂
Pinned too!
The first was called Wiggles. And to this day (he is 3 now) he is still called Wiggles because he is constantly moving and squirming around. For the the second which has about 4 months to go before it enters the world, we have nothing, and may not because it is the second…

Those mobiles are so cute! We called our baby “Wolfie” way in the beginning… That changed once we found out we were having twins, and that they were both girls. 😉
We called him/her “baby Edwards” until she was born…boring. 🙂
I pinned you on Pinterest!
We called our last baby , our son, Monkey Ninja …for obvious reasons 🙂
We called our daughter “duckie” cause that’s what she looked like on the first ultrasound.
our twins were Thing 1 and Thing 2 🙂
I pinned it 🙂
With my first, we called her Boba Fetus (as in Boba Fett from Star Wars). Just had my second and the poor kid didn’t get a nickname. However, his name is Oscar, so there’s a plethora of nicknames in his future.
we call my current baby in utero “new baby” kind of generic I guess 🙂
We call our baby Peanut, Bean, or Demon Spawn all depending on the day.

We asked our 4 kids what they thought we should call our baby until he/she joins us this fall, and they decided it should be “Number 5”. So Number 5 it is!
We called her Boobs.
Pinned on pinterest!

I am calling him/her “my baby” 🙂

We just called her “baby” 🙂
I pinned the image.
I tweeted the giveaway. @anzhie_luv. Thanks for the chance 🙂
Our first baby was nicknamed Soylent, which sounds weird until you know that our last name is Green. So we got a kick out of doing our best Charlton Heston impression and exclaiming “Soylent Green….is people!” It might still sound weird. Ah, well.
Second baby had no nickname except “baby” because it made it easier for the 2 year old to wrap her head around the concept.
Pinned on pinterest!
My daughter’s in utero nickname was “Izzy”. as in “Izzy a boy, Izzy a girl?” We didn’t find out her gender until 2 weeks before she was born. I’m currently 8 months pregnant with my 2nd child, and I’ve been calling him “Little Man” but only between He and I….
We called all three of our bambinos “Baby Renny” until they were born(a play on our last name). 🙂
Liked both mommy shorts & baby jives via Heather Paulding! Both of my children were called by their names in utero…it was out of utero they got some nicknames:) thank you!

We called our first Moose, because we found out we were prego after my husband got back from a 2 week moose hunting trip, and the second was “it” because I would always say it is moving again! Number 1 was a boy, Liam, and Number 2 was a girl, Fiona.
didn’t call him anything!

I follow both lovely pages on facebook.
We called my daughter SAM in utero – Scarlett Adelaide Mason. We didn’t know if we were having a boy or girl so SAM fitted for us either way.
Our recent addition was nicknamed ‘little one’.
I follow Mommy Shorts on pinterest and pinned this giveaway post. Pinterest name is Virginia Mason.
I have tweeted this giveaway. Twitter name – VirginiaKMason.
I called my sweet Charlotte “Charbaby” when she was in my belly. Would LOVE this giveaway! The mobiles are one of a kind and beautiful!
I didn’t have a name for them then.
I followed you on Pinterest and pinned it.

We call him our baby shark. At our first ultrasound my funny little step son saw the spine and was convinced I was having a shark 🙂

We called the first one “baby beluga”. Unfortunately, this one has just been called “SB” for second baby but with my pregnancy brain I randomly called it “spare baby” and, sadly, that has stuck. Talk about second child syndrome starting early!
I follow you on pinterest and just repinned the graphic as well.
We called him either by his name or called him our Boo Boo!
I’ve been calling him Jacob since I found out I’m having a boy. I can’t wait to finally meet him in June
We did not find out the sex of our baby, so before we knew he was a he, we just called him Baby or Baby Short.
I called her “Autumn” in utero because that was supposed to be her name, until my mother called one night and said “you should her name her Alanna” and then my husband was like “yeah I like that.” So the name I chose was gone. 🙁
We called our son ‘Tater’ (as in Tater Tot)…because Mommy was often at Sonic.
I also pinned the giveaway and am following you on Pinterest! Thanks!
For our son, it was Monkey Butt. For our daughter, it was Two.
“Lbf” for little baby Frein
We’ve just been calling it “the baby” as I know the sex (by accident) and the husband doesn’t. It’s been fun to say the least!
We called our baby ‘peaches’.
I pinned on momconfessional / oh baby! Board.
We called #1 “LV” (short for Little Vandy but also ended up being his initials). We called #2 “Raspberry” because that’s what #1 said we should name #2!
I just tweeted! @momconfessional
I pinned! saral910

Before we knew the gender of our daughter, we called her “Rupert.” I’m really not sure why anymore, ha! Baby #2 (a boy!) is due in August, & because we are not too clever, we’ve been referring to him as, “Rupert #2.” 🙂
I tweeted…
& I repinned, too! 🙂
In Utero: TheAlien – at one point I thought there was going to be the diner scene from Spaceballs.
We called my now 18 month old Fifi Trixiebell after we read it on a weird celebrity babyname list, she is now Piper. We called our now 1 month old Stormaggedon Dark Lord of All from a Dr Who episode, he’s Winston. We really didn’t have a name picked for the boy until they said we couldn’t leave wo filling out the birth certificate form. We had my MIL believing we were really naming the girl Fifi.
Nothing for first two. The last one was called “baby in Mommy’s tummy” – real original… I know.
We called our daughter bean
I follow you and pinned on pinterest!
I Tweeted also!
My first’s womb name was Pupusa… we live near a lot of El Salvadorian restaurants and I ate a lot of pupusas while pregnant. The second is Papaya because that was the fruit size she was when we decided she should also have a womb name to be fair. 😉
We didn’t call the first baby anything other than,
“The baby” and we called the second one “baby #2”. So original! Ha!
We just called him bub 🙂
Bambino

We called him Spawn. The next one (ETA TBD) will be Thing 2.
