Not nearly that long. I kill them long before that, because they float everywhere, and I may wake up in the middle of the night to see it looming over me. Or, the cats get to them, and I find gift wrapped turds in the litter box. Then it’s time to kill the balloon because I’m afraid they will choke on the mylar.
2 months. The worst thing are the new just ordinary balloons, they last forever too! A March 1 birthday and we came home from vacation a month later and they were still going.
We had a huge Thomas the Train that lasted for MONTHS until one day it caught a draft and bobbed around the kitchen so much it set off the motion detector for our alarm. We arrived home and couldn’t figure it what had set it off until DUN DUN DUN… Thomas arose from behind the counter and scared the crap out of us. It died instantly. New rule in the house is that as soon as they start to sag, they are goners. I used to hate the sound of popping balloons. Now, I relish it!
Three f**king months I had the wrinkly version of Tinkerbell staring at me, and once she finally went she disappeared, and I found her at the bottom of my daughter’s toy chest not two weeks before the next birthday.
My sister bought my daughter one while we were visiting my parents…that was in February and I’m pretty sure it just got the ax! (Glad it was at their house, not mine!) They even used it as an mailbox balloon to let people know their house was the correct one for a get together! Ha
it was an one of those really big ones…The Avengers (all 5 of them…or is it 4? I need to get my super hero facts straight) but I took scissors to it after 5 months…BEST. FEELING. EVER.
A giant SpongeBob lasted for MONTHS. He met a sudden death via a pair of kitchen shears in the basement one dark night, and was buried in a torn bday gift bag.
What’s disturbing is when you have them for so long that they start to float just above the ground and it looks like you have a little foil creature creeping around your house. Funny how Dora is still smiling even after you killed her ::shivers::
We have a Pokemon mylar balloon in our kitchen pot rack that will be 2 year old this December. However since it is sitting on our hanging pot rack it is probably dead. I do not hang pot racks on our rack but it does have lights in it.
I got my son one of those balloons for his 1st birthday and it lasted about two months. Between him and the cats, it kept everyone in the house entertained so I refused to throw it out.
ANY type of baloon stays “around” for about a week, 2 at most… the cat <3's baloons so I don't have to "kill" them... but how long do pieces of piñatas stay around in your home? Axel LOVES to bring some piece of a friends piñata home with him.. and won't let us throw them away! We just went to one with Alex the lion..he got an arm...it went into the fire (it's been cold) on Monday to warm up the house...of course Axel didn't find out about it cuz it would have been Bloody Murder what i did! But he had a Spiderman piñata that went to school with him...it came bacl whole and lasted a FULL YEAR in his bedroom..."human size"...would scare the Shizzza outta me..but NOOOO He couldn't be thrown out till the "new" one he'd be getting for the next b-day arrived!
Thomas the train took 6 weeks to die. My son checked it everyday for holes like he knew we wanted to get rid of the thing. I was so happy when I didn’t have to look at that train’s face every time I sat down to eat!!
It’s hard to say. We suck the helium out before they go flat.
How wrong is it that my first thought was “B&#ch had it coming!”?
We only get them for birthdays. After the party we clip them and I save the balloons in a keepsake box!

I still have one “living” in my nursery since the birth of my son on June 30. I can’t believe it’s still floating!
We still have a mini one that has been with us since 2001…
Guess Dora should’ve followed the “map” and ran for her life!! 😛
We’ve had some for months!! Those things never completely die, they just slowly sink and float along the floor!
Since July 27 and still up in the ceiling! Wish we could kill batman but he won’t come down!
Fortunately I was able to kill Mickey 4 weeks after my son’s birthday party.

Giant Curious George lasted 6 months!! Those big ones seem to last forever.

Cinderella was waaaaaaaaay past midnight, creeping up and down the stairs. Seems she’s a party girl and lasted 4 months….
Diego is still going strong after my son’s July 2nd birthday…

I killed Superman last week.

Diego is still alive and like new.
I think my daughter got him for her birthday last year. So September 2012 to now.
I never would have made it to 5 weeks with a Mylar balloon. I have an aversion to balloons in general.
My son got a rocket ship balloon for his birthday on June 15th. The kid loves that thing. It’s still floating around the house…

Depends on whether or not they “accidentally” get caught in a ceiling fan or not….

Over a year! I too had to take some lives! They just don’t die….
