Giveaway: $500 AmEx Gift Card & Year’s Supply of Boogie Wipes
On December 24th this year, I am packing up my Jewish family and taking them to Poppy and Nonna’s house in Rhode Island for their very first Christmas.
Poppy, aka “my father”, has been trying to establish a holiday with the family for years. When my parents got separated, back when I was ten years old, it was written into the divorce settlement that holidays would be spent with my mother (aka Grammy, but not Grammy at the time for obvious reasons.) My sister and I didn’t think much of it growing up and our traditions carried into adulthood, which means that even now, we spend holidays with our mom.
A few years ago, my dad mentioned something to my sister and me about spending Thanksgiving with him that year and we reacted like this was the most ludicrous thing we had ever heard.
“We can’t NOT spend Thanksgiving with MOM!”
“You don’t even care about the holidays, Dad.”
I will never forget the look on my dad’s face. It was at that moment I realized the reason my dad never seemed to celebrate the holidays was because he couldn’t celebrate them with his kids.
For a few years after that, we tried to establish fake holidays that we would spend with my father. “Liar’s Day” was a celebration that took place on March 6th, the day my dad thought was his birthday for most of his life, until his mother broke the news to him that he was actually born on May 6th and she had lied so he could make the kindergarten cut-off. “Status Day” was a celebration that took place on October 29th, the date my brother-in-law’s parents engraved on the back of his fancy new watch which had no significance whatsoever except that was the date they bought the watch. FYI- “Status Day” is a fabulous holiday where you go out to a really expensive restaurant and buy your loved one the cheapest item you can find from an obnoxiously upscale brand. Like a Gucci pair of socks or a Prada shower cap.
But none of these holidays really stuck with my father.
Then this year, my dad invited us up to their house in Rhode Island for Christmas. Nonna (my stepmother) is Catholic and celebrates Christmas as most people do— with a tree, Christmas Eve Dinner, stockings hung on the mantle, etc. He said the kids could help decorate a smaller kid’s tree the night before, we could do the whole cookies and milk thing for Santa and open presents the next morning.
“Oh my god, DAD! This is it! Why didn’t we think of this before? YOU CAN HAVE CHRISTMAS!!!!!!”
So. Now I am tasked with not only buying Hanukah and Christmas presents, I also need to buy stocking stuffers. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO BUY STOCKING STUFFERS BEFORE. It is the most exciting thing ever.
In partnership with Boogies Wipes, I have put together my “#1 Picks” for stocking stuffers. You know, since they are the experts on all things stuffed and picked. If you don’t see the wordplay there, your children stick their fingers up their stuffed noses to pick out their boogers far less than mine do.
To make it even more fun— if you tell me your #1 Stocking Stuffer Pick in the comment section below, you could win a $500 American Express gift card and a year’s supply of Boogie Wipes! (I’m really having a lot of awesome holiday giveaways, aren’t I???)

My favorite was the elsa gloves. We always get new toothbrushes in our stockings.
#1 Stocking stuffer for my almost 2 year old: Toothbrush, Toothpaste and M & M’s (practical and yummy!)
Those chocolate oranges that you have to smash to break apart. Not only is it the funnest thing to eat, ever, it is also so tasty!
My #1 pick would be the butterfly bubbles, my daughter loves bubbles.
Pinned!
For my boy, I usually do a Thomas Train or Disney Cars car. We also love markers, stickers, bubbles and socks!
My 5 yr old found some small stocking ornaments in our box of decorations and instead of hanging them on the tree she put them on a hook with her regular stocking. She then said that someone told her that Santa sometimes puts candy in your stockings if you’re really good. So this year’s stocking stuffers will be Andes mints!
As an adult my stocking from “Santa”(my mom) has gotta way toooo sensible. She gives us toilet paper, soap, and toothpaste. All essentials, which is great because it frees up money in the budget for the nonessentials like Starbucks and booze!

Every year my husband requires the lifesavers book in his stocking (he’s 38) and now that extends to the kids. I also love the idea of arts and crafts supplies, which I will be doing this year- thanks Ilana!
My number one stocking stuffer pick is all the things I bought last year on Dec 26th for 50% off, I then put it in a bag and pack it away with all the Christmas stuff…fast forward to next year and I get really excited about how I already have one less thing to do and cute stuff to put in my kiddos stockings!
I also get weekly emails from Mommy Shorts!
My favorite kiddo stocking stuffer has to be Melissa & Doug Color Blast coloring books. They’re smaller than most coloring books and so handy because one marker colors it all and they’re completely mess free! The kiddos could color on themselves or the walls and there’s no mess! Pure kid bliss and stress free for us mommas!
My son loves any kind of craft, so a little tray of water colors is the best stocking stuffer for him!
My #1 stocking stuffer pick (or in our case, Chanukah present) would be the heart-shaped measuring spoons for my two-year-old daughter. She is very interested in “helping” mommy cook.
My number one stocking stuffer are from this line of books called my Busy Books. They are books that include teeny tiny playsets and are portable and contained. I just love them.

Dark chocolate of course. 🙂

Those Frozen band-aids made the list for my almost 2 yr old BG twins, but I think #1 this year will the the mini containers of play doh.
We try to stay away from candy because they already get way too much from the grandmas. This year’s top choices are nail polish and earrings for the 7-year-old, bubbles and dry erase markers for the 3-year-old and nuks for the 2-month-old.
Favorite stocking stuffer: Gift cards!

My favorite stocking stuffers for my 4 year old this year is the Flingshot flying monkey toy or the liquid motion timer toy for the moments we need a little zen 😉 The propane tank gauge for the hubby!
Pinned 🙂
Love the Babiators!
We are using bandaids as stocking stuffers too! They are the best.

My 3 y.o. is getting Hello Kitty bandaids this year, because we are now entering that stage of needing a bandaid for everything! So that is my new favorite stocking stuffer.

Puzzle books, like word searches and bath time markers to write on the bathtub walls.
I love the Frozen Band-Aids…a must this Christmas. An orange in the toe of the stocking is a tradition in our family.
My #1 stocking stuffers is oranges!
MY FAVE STOCKING STUFFER ARE THE EOS CHAPSTICKS! MY TWO YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IS ALWAYS FINDING MY STASH AND THEY DISAPPEAR! WHEN I FINALLY FIND ONE TO USE ITS ALWAYS COVERED IN BABY SALIVA, PLAYDOH OR DOG HAIR!! THANK GOODNESS FOR THE BIG PACK AT SAMS!!
I always give my kids things I’d never by them like Cheetos or silly string. They love it and it keeps them believing

Nail polish! For sure 🙂 but in pink!
Just remember not to put expensive stuff in the stocking otherwise they will come to expect it! Always makes me crazy when they advertise $50 & up gifts for stocking stuffers!!
My go to top stocking stuffers are : toothbrush, bonne bell lipsmacker, candy canes, thank you notes, christmas socks, oranges, markers or crayons, & hair clips or ties.
Good luck. & Merry 1st Christmas.
I love do to beauty products that are age appropriate. Some dazzle dust for the cheeks, lip gloss, lip balm, perfume, hair accessories….that sort of stuff. They do not get to wear a lot of it in public, so Christmas is a good time to allow some of that.

#1 stocking stuffer for my little girl is the piggy paint for her toes. She is one (just turned one in October) and she LOVES getting her toes painted!
#1 for my little boy is hot wheels cars! You can never go wrong with hot wheels cars for a little boy!
i like when Santa puts new makeup in my stocking. The kids always get new toothbrushes and bubble bath the stockings. Have a very merry first Christmas. 🙂
Babiators!!
Last year santa left underwear in our 3 yr olds stocking and he talked about it CONSTANLTY – he though tit was hilarious…so we are making it a ritual…Santa is brining Paw Patrol underpants this year!

I’m putting Jamberry jr. Nail wraps in my daughter stocking!
Lip balm, nail polish
Actually everyone (including me!) gets a new ornament in their sticking every year. It’s a wonderful tradition my mom started and now I have a beautiful collection of my own. My kids will someday too! That’s my #1 pick 🙂
Without fail, we forget to buy stocking stuffers. The night before, my husband and I usually raid the cabinets for trinkets and candy to put in the stockings. Oops.
This may sound weird, but every year we got several rolls of scotch tape. We loved it. It was our own to craft with and use and we didn’t get in trouble for using all the household tape.

We love Christmas tree ornaments and books as stocking stuffers in our family!
I pinned the article on Pinterest! 🙂

I always give my husband one of those chocolate oranges you whack apart. Nips of liquor are fun for the grown-ups too, especially random ones you’d never buy a full bottle of. For the kiddo, this year she’s getting markers, candy, stickers, and My Little Pony accessories (Rainbow Dash necklace and clip-in rainbow hair!)
Always a new toothbrush in each of my kids stockings. Along with the candy canes and chocolate orange. So, I guess the toothbrush is super appropriate.
Starbucks gift cards!!
Coloring books and crayons 🙂 they may even allow a bit more rest for tired “Santas”
I posted two of the images to Pinterest (actually I did that before I even saw it would get me an entry – then I just had to go back and edit the caption on them!)
pinned.
We always put oranges in stockings – its some tradition, but I don’t remember the story behind it. And toothbrushes. And candy. To counteract the toothbrushes.

Sesame Street fizzy tub colors! The kids LOVE these. Santa puts them in their stockings every year along with other fun bath stuff!
I subscribe.
Subscribed to the weekly! Fingers crossed! Xx
My family always did candy, fruit and nits with a big candy cane. My husband’s family did toys so we compromised.
Our kids get novelty candy, candy canes, new toothbrushes and one or two small toys or bodycare products.
I love the love rung you pick and the frozen gloves!

I think the frozen band aids will definitely be making an appearance in my daughter’s stocking this year. I also love to give my extended family home made coupons for things like, “good for one babysitting night” or “good for one late night pick up no questions asked.” That one was popular with my college aged sister.
If there isn’t a little Debbie Christmas tree cake in my stocking it’s not really Xmas! Also glad I’m not the only one who thought character band aids were genius for a stocking stuffer!
My number one pick for a stocking stuffer this year is Frozen/MLP Friendship is Magic Dog Tags. They are cheap running like $2 a necklace and my daughter LOVES frozen and MLP. So she will get some candy and dog tags. For my son who is only 9 months old… SPOONS. His favorite thing on the planet! Colorful spoons to play with. 🙂 Although after looking at your list I may have to throw in some Frozen Bandaids…. 😉

Chocolate covered blueberries, a toothbrush, lottery tickets and an orange that nobody eats.
My favorite stocking stuffer for adults would DEFINITELY have to be Vosges Chocolate bars. They have the most indulgent grown-up flavor combinations that you’ll feel like Santa’s elves made it just for you.

Band-aids are totally my number one. If I give them their own personal box I won’t cringe as much about wasting the ones from our actual first aid cabinet.
I subscribe to your emails & love reading them every day!
My #1 stocking stuffer is panties! My mom always put fun ones in my stocking growing up and then in college it was wonderful because I was broke and got some nice new panties every December. One year my mom thought I didn’t need them because I was an “adult “… I think I cried when I realized they weren’t there. Silly underwear in everyone’s stocking is now one of my favorite traditions!
My number one stocking stuffer pick is the Eos lip balm! My daughter is obsessed with mine already and would be a perfect stocking stuffer for her!
I also subscribe to emails!
Our #1 stocking stuffer is Lindt chocolates because everyone in our family loves them and has their own favorite. We buy chocolates so rarely that it’s special to get a WHOLE bag of JUST your favorite at Christmas.
It sounds so silly to type it, but it makes us happy in a silly sort of way.
I would love the dry bar gift card. Also, as others have said– you should put an orange in the toe of the girls’ stockings. Their grandpa can explain the tradition and talk about being appreciative for all they have. Also, thank you cards in our stockings were a yearly tradition too
I tweeted this as well! And now I’m onto the laundry and crossing my fingers I win!

Everyone always gets a PEZ dispenser and candy. Girls get bobby pins and hair ties since they all are lost by Jan anyways. Boys get soap and toothbrushes, because well, boys are gross.
