It’s December 30th at 11:15pm and I can think of no better way to spend New Year’s Eve Eve than by curling up in bed and watching the first five minutes of Blacklist (my new favorite show to binge watch on Netflix) before falling asleep.
But instead, I am going to write a top ten twelve list of the most popular Mommy Shorts posts in 2014, because THAT IS WHAT BLOGGERS DO.
We brag about the posts that people liked and link to each of them in case you want to read them again, in case that wasn’t clear.
Interestingly, Google Analytics tells me my three most popular posts this year were not actually written this year.
For instance, the most trafficked post in 2014 was “Porn for Moms of Toddlers” written in February 2012.
I guess hot guys offering to make a diaper run and and putting together IKEA furniture never gets old.
The second most popular post in 2014 was “28 Examples of Crap Husbands Pull While Their Wives are in Labor” written in May 2013. With 267 comments and counting, that post has now become the go-to place for moms harboring decades old delivery room resentment to come and vent.
Also breaking the top ten are “The Most Inappropriate of Inappropriate Elf“…
…and “The Funniest Baby Memes all in One Place” both written in 2013.
OH CRAP. Are there any posts I wrote this year that people liked?????
Ah yes. Here are my top 12 posts of 2014, from least to most popular.
After all that fun stuff, the surprise #1 hit of 2014 was a little post I wrote about not judging me for letting my baby use the stairs on her own.
#1. The Benefit of Lazy Parenting
Thank you to everyone who followed my blog this year, both the loyal readers who have been with me since the beginning and the newer fans who just started following. I’m glad we all found each other. I don’t know what I did to deserve such a smart, funny, and openminded audience.
As most of you know, this year was a big for me. We bought a house, Mazzy started kindergarten and I left my job to pursue my blog full-time. I have to thank my husband who encouraged me to make the career switch, Cara and Abby who are now part of the Mommy Shorts team and all the brands that supported me this year. I can now say I both write a blog and run a business, and I’m crossing my fingers that 2015 brings as many good things and opportunities as 2014.
I hope that for everyone.
Happy New Year all!
XO, Mommy Shorts
Thanks for making me laugh and all the great tips of parenting. Also to let a first time mom know that we are not alone in raising our children. Thanks for sharing. Have a great and wonderful new year!
These Shorts are one of the best thing I saw today,, Thanks
Yes Dhruv. I also agree with you. Some of them are really amazing & I had to appreciate it 😀
I’ve been reading Mommyshorts since Xander was still percolating in my tummy, so seeing him on your top twelve of 2014 is such a kick! Thank you for sharing your life with all of us. It makes me feel like this whole ‘life with kids’ thing is doable.
Love this blog! Thanks for keeping on. Without you I would not be enjoying my lovely vacuum cleaner.
I can’t believe none of the Monday Morning posts were top 12! I love posts about Mazzy and Harlow, but Monday Mornings were my next favorites. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! I loved all the Mazzy and Harlow posts this year too and I think it is fantastic you are making a living doing something you love and I get to have my day brightened as a result. Win for all of us in 2014! My recently much viewed posts of yours were last year’s sleep training ones – I’m just doing baby #3 sharing #1’s room – read all of your posts again while doing my timed checks to remind myself we’re all in it together…. Hope 2015 is another awesome year for Mommy Shorts.
What a year! Though I’m surprised Baby Mugging didn’t make the list. Was that last year??
I’m also wondering about Monday Mornings – loved those! Just read your “lazy parenting” post for the first time – love it!

Hi this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

hey, I liked the way of writing and explanation in this article. Just loved it.
Needed to compose you a tiny note to finally thank you very much yet again for your personal splendid methods you have discussed above. It is strangely open-handed with people like you to provide publicly all that a number of people would have marketed as an electronic book to generate some bucks for their own end, primarily now that you could possibly have tried it if you ever wanted. These inspiring ideas likewise acted like a fantastic way to know that the rest have the same dreams really like my personal own to see a whole lot more concerning this problem. I’m sure there are thousands of more enjoyable times in the future for many who check out your blog.
