As many of you know, I share an office with my friend Seri, the party planner known as Little Miss Party. This past year, Seri and her partner Michelle launched Little Miss Party in a Box, which puts together all the party supplies you need based on specific themes. We used their birthday party box for Harlow’s second birthday last year. The idea is to make party planning so easy, anybody can do it.
So. When Little Miss Party recently launched their new Spring Party in a Box, Seri thought it would be fun to ask our husbands to put it together for a Mother’s Day Brunch.
“Are you sure you want Mike and Adam to set up your party????”
She was sure.
We even took the kids to the park so they could set up completely on their own.
All they had was the box, the supplies, Little Miss Party blue prints and a photographer (my new friend Dave Robbins) to capture their every move.
Otherwise, how would we know that they drank a glass of scotch before attempting to decorate?
After the boys were sufficiently intoxicated, they got to work.
Hanging paper lanterns…
Arranging two-day-old flowers in whatever vessels they could find…
Fixing broken stems with tape…
And cutting cucumbers to fancy up a carafe of water…
Mike might not know how to handle a flower without it losing half its petals, but he does have attention to detail.
Then they scoured the cabinets for assorted dishes…
Placed the bagels and cupcakes on platters…
And arranged everything on the table just so…
Somehow, despite the scotch and the tape, it turned out looking like this…
Seri and I returned with the kids a little under an hour later and the boys were already on the couch watching television.
Good thing, they got up to say “Hi”.
And then a wonderful pre-Mother’s Day Brunch was had by all.
I should have had more faith in the hubs.
Do you want to give someone the easiest route to throwing you a successful Mother’s Day brunch? Your spouse? Your significant other? Your kids? Your dry cleaner?
Today I am giving away a Little Miss Spring Party in a box!
The Little Miss Spring Party in a Box ($89) includes party set-up for 12 people with hand painted gold chevron forks, mint striped paper straws, scalloped napkins, ombré paper plates, gold foil scalloped cups, vintage bud vases, assorted paper flowers and paper lanterns and one buttercup paper table runner.
You must be a Mommy Shorts subscriber to enter and then leave a comment below telling me what you want for Mother’s Day. I’m putting together a gift guide and I need some ideas!
If you’d like to order a Little Miss Spring Party in a Box (great for Mother’s Day, baby showers, birthdays, etc.) you can do so here. If you order by 12pm EST on May 5th, it will arrive in time for Mother’s Day.
Winner will be announced this Friday, May 1st. Good luck!

LOVE THAT! OMG, look at how she looks at him. Oooo, you’re in trouble.
I want one of those fancy wireless speakers! The good one. I think it’s by Beats. That would be such a fun gift.
a Thumbprint Necklace
I love the look Mazzy has on that last photo! I would love a certificate for a one hour massage and an afternoon away.
For Mother’s Day I would love to sleep in and to not change any diapers for a whole day. A scribbled picture by my 18 month old would make my whole day.
To spend it with my mom! She’s visiting and helping me out the next few weeks. I’m hoping she will be able to stay around for Mother’s Day too!
I want to be checked in to a hotel with breakfast in bed. Then spa for the day and meet my kids and husband at a restaurant for an early dinner 🙂
What I want for Mothers Day? Peace and Quiet. Just enough to make me miss the hubs and two girls.
A day that I don’t have to worry about getting little ones up and dressed and feed. About being to the right place at the right time. About getting house chores done. Let my husband take care of it for a day.
Last year I got out of diaper duty for the day but now that my kiddo is potty trained, I want the house to myself for a few hours and not do a damn thing. And I want a bagel with cream cheese and lox – my husband snuck one into the hospital 2 days after I gave birth (on Mother’s Day of all days) so now it’s a tradition.
I want a photo printer I can connect directly to my iPhone like the Polaroid Zip Instant Mobile Printer or the Instant Lab Universal printer.
I want heartfelt store-bought cards, tulips and a trip to an awesome local nursery to buy my garden veggies and herbs for the year. And I want to eat first at meals for the day.
I want this party!! Besides that, I’d say I would love a trip to the salon for a much needed haircut and a dinner I didn’t cook!
I’d love a Jenna Kator purse
A pedicure!..and maybe some champagne…and a fancy breakfast…maybe in bed…and a nap. 🙂
Looks like they did an awesome job! I really want a Silhouette Cameo printing machine to make cute stuff for my baby girl! 🙂
I want silence. I want my husband to get the kids and I want to go get my nails done. So a spa day or gift certificate for a nail salon will be great
This will be my first Mother’s Day, pregnant so that sorta counts right? I think anything from my husbands heart would be just enough. Not sure if he’s even going to do anything. I don’t think it’s crossed his mind.
Love how wonderful the party turned out!!
For mothers day I want a maid service to come clean my house spotless. It’s not even messy, but it could use a nice sparkle to it! And also take out dinner for dinner because the house will be clean and I don’t want to worry about making dirty dishes! ha!
Sleep would be the nicest gift. I have a new baby and a three year old and get no breaks in the day!
Also one of those necklaces with their birth stones would be nice. Or a ring.
A spa day would be fabulous!
I would like to have my house scrubbed down by a professional (baseboards, cabinets, bathrooms). I would like to sleep in past 8:30am. I would like my kids to well behaved all day. And I would like for my husband to not be in any pain (he has severe diverticulitis) so that I can enjoy my day.
I’m a stay at home mom of 3, and I babysit a friend’s 7 month old 4 days a week. Essentially, I want a day off. I want my kids to go somewhere Saturday night after dinner. I want my husband to pick them up on Sunday evening and bring them home, along with carryout dinner. No cooking, no cleaning, no moderating piddly arguments… all for nearly 24 hours. It sounds like a dream come true! I love my little smidgens, but everyone can understand the need for some time off!
Sorry to jump in on your comment! Doing this on my phone and it keeps jumping around 🙁 Didn’t mean to highjack your mother’s day request!
its my birthday and my first Mother’s day, my son is only 2 weeks old- I want brunch with family and a nameplate necklace or monogram bracelet with his initials. OR a pack of baby and me yoga classes!
I want what I always want. A spa gift certificate! Silence, pampering, getting out of the house. It’s the best!
A day. We’re remodeling so everyday it’s a different contractor, a different decision to make, a different problem all while being a mom to a 2 yo and 4 yo. I’d love just a day off, in Chicago, especially now that the weather is nice, to shop and lunch (yes, I just used it as a verb). My birthday is the 11th, so I kind of always get screwed with a “combo bday/Mother’s day”. Plus I have to fuss over my own mom on Mother’s Day. So my wish is for a day. 🙂
I know it sounds awful but with my third on his way (3 and under in aug) I want a day away. A day at the pool. At the spa. At the beach. And a cleaning person to clean my house while I’m gone. I’ll put dinner in the crock pot before I leave so when I come home it will be business as usual and hubby won’t have to worry with that.
I want Matty to make me a mommshorts-esque compilation video of our kids over the years. Too much?
Love this box! Would be great for when my mom and sister come to visit (we just moved out of state!).
For Mother’s Day I would love a little pampering! Maybe breakfast in bed, some champagne, and a trip to the hair salon!
I know it’s weird, but I’d love a new vacuum cleaner…mine currently doesn’t suck. I asked for one for Christmas AND my birthday and got shot down on both accounts. But I’d take this #partyinabox , too!!
I would love it if my hubby did the week’s laundry!
This turned out great! You have such a beautiful family!
For Mother’s Day, I would love a mini spa day (massge, pedicure, manicure) and to be able to go shopping and not worry about how much money I am spending. 🙂
I love your blog and really enjoy reading your posts. Thank you for sharing your life.
I would like 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep for Mother’s Day!
A new pair of running shoes.
I would love a pedicure. Mostly just to get an hour or so on my own out of the house with no kids. 😀
I love this! So easy to do, basically fool proof. I would love to be able to sleep in, have the husband take the kids somewhere so I have silence in the house, and then go out for dinner. I’m getting tired of cooking 🙂
I’d like not to have to work retail on Mothers Day. I always have to work. Then I would like to have my grown daughter make a plan of how she would spend the day with me with my grand daughter. Just the three of us having a good time without rushing…..thats what I wish for. Time. Just time with my daughter and grand.
Brunch with mimosas, with my fellow moms and a mani/pedi
I want candles!
I want a new pair of Yosi Samra shoes!
I’d like some new frames so that I can put up the family photos we just had taken.
I am not a mother yet (hopefully by next year!), but I have always wanted stackable rings to wear with my wedding ring! One birthstone band for each kiddo 🙂
If it also helps with your gift guide, I will be making handmade gifts this year for the Mothers in my life. LUSH inspired bath bombs! What momma doesn’t love a handmade gift?? Fingers crossed that they work out!!
For Mothers Day I would really like a Mothers ring. One that can have another stone added to it later as my husband and I are discussing having one more baby in the next couple years. I would also like one 24 hour period with no diapers, bottles, crying, or hearing the word mommy!
What I really want is a trip to Italy, but if that is a bit much, I would also settle for my family spending the day with me planting our garden. And a spa day.
Nice weather to enjoy the day with my family and friends!
I would like a weekend ALONE in a hotel. I’ll even take just one night. One night where I can control the TV, order roomservice and eat whatever I want (while it’s still hot!), read, sleep or do whatever else I want to do with no one to answer to but myself. I daydream about that. It sounds like HEAVEN.
I’ve been wanting a pair of Tieks by Gavrieli. I even told my husband and kids they can all chip in on a pair so they don’t have to spend a lot. Fingers crossed!
Definitely a massage!
My daughter is 4 years old and I have not spend one single night away from her. I would love a weekend away with my mommy friends.
what I really want is for my husband to tell me I’m beautiful once in a while. He’s an amazing man but not very expressive. After having two kids, it’d be nice to know my husband thinks I’m still hot. But that’ll never happen so I’d gladly take an eliptical machine so I can make an effort to feel healthier and maybe lose some weight. Or if that’s too expensive, I have a finger print necklace from our oldest she made at school. The “chain” isn’t a chain at all and I’d love that in a real necklace along with a finger print from our youngest.
This is hilarious! I can only imagine my husband doing this! I want a pleasant day where my husband deals with the temper tantrums instead of me 🙂
I love this!! What a great idea & so beautiful! For Mother’s Day, I would like to have brunch with my family, get a pedi, and get a new bag.
I would love a large family photo printed on a canvas
While thinking of what I want for Mother’s Day all I could think of was a nice quiet day inside. I picture my son and his father going out somewhere (park, grocery store, gas station, anywhere) while I’m home relatively alone (with all our furry family members). That way I won’t hear “can you change his diaper?”, “where’s my fill-in-the-blank?”, “I think I heard mommy calling you”. Surprisingly, I also wouldn’t mind a nice early bird dinner out. Weird right?
I really would like child support for Mother’s Day. Haha, but I’d settle for something simple and sparkly (ahem! Read: jewelry) or a Target giftcard and 2 hours without the kiddo to shop at my leisure. A mom can dream… Right?
I’m pregnant, so some comfy (and roomy) PJs would be awesome. I’m sick of sleeping in my hubby’s old tshirts and shorts! And just hearing my 2 year old say she loves me!!! (And a nice bottle of wine, but i guess I’ll have to wait on that one!)
A haircut. It has been over a year and a half and I am long overdue! I have been super busy with the two kiddos, work, housework, kids sports, and night classes. Yikes, typing out how long it has been makes me sad! I would love to go out for a haircut and come home to my hubby and the kiddos having put together the little miss party in a box. Love love love those vases!
Sleep would be the perfect gift followed by a mimosa filled brunch
I want a day to sleep in, breakfast lunch and dinner prepared for me and for my husband to deal with all of my daughter’s duties the entire day (feeding, diapering, getting dressed, bathing, bed time routine, etc). I don’t think that’s too much to ask for ONE day. I’ll go back to my job as mom at midnight.
We’re expanding our family from 3 to 4 in a few short months & I’d love to just have a long weekend getaway with our existing family unit, somewhere beachy and warm. I feel like I’ve got a house packed to the gills with stuff, but there’s always room for quality time (and the beach).
I want a mother’s necklace or a mk purse ☺❤❤
For my first Mother’s Day I would really love a matching T-shirt combo for me and my 5 month old. I found a pair on Etsy and my husband has been given strict instructions on getting them for us! I can just see us strolling (literally) into the local bagel shop repping our super trendy graphic tees. So far they have not been ordered!
https://www.etsy.com/listing/227334316/mom-life-unisex-yoga-coffee-screen
gift card to dry bar (including time to go to dry bar)
I would love another Candelles candle. I’m obsessed with them!
I would love a nap, and updated photos of my boys 🙂
A massage, dinner out, a maid, time to myself, basically anything that makes me less “mom” for just an hour or two.
My Birthday is the day before Mother’s Day this year and I always get the short end of the stick in the gift department, 2 for the price of one LOL. This year I would love a Spa day with my mom and sister.
My husband has given me a gift certificate to Lowes for the past two or three holidays. I’d like just enough more to be able to finally purchase a storm door for the front porch! I’d love to finally be able to have a cross breeze in the house! Oh… and maybe a morning to sleep in… he can watch all four kids for an hour! 🙂
I want a FitBit! My birthday is the day after so I’ve decided I can go big since I’ll have to mesh my two specials days almost every year forever!
I just want a nice long bath with some champagne.. I can’t remember the last time I was able to relax un-interrupted 🙂
I wish all my flowers wouldn’t die in this Phoenix heat 😉 but I’d settle for some amazing ranunculus or peoni for my kitchen 😀
I want to sleep in and have somebody make me breakfast. Then a hour massage and while I’m gone somebody to clean my house!
My husband will be on shift that day, (firefighter) so I want a day with not one tantrum/hitting/ or huge messes from my three littles! And maybe a gift card for pizza so I don’t have to cook dinner. 🙂
I want the same thing as every year – just something with my kid’s hand prints on it and breakfast in bed. 🙂
I want a new handbag that doesn’t have the straps chewed up by teething toddlers!
A day at the spa followed by a shopping trip to the tangler outlets. Maybe a nice brunch with the kids ( which includes me sleeping in and daddy making and cleaning up) then a family bike ride or hike
I want to sleep in until 8am! Or a canvas print of my baby.
A professional family picture would be the perfect gift. We don’t really have any nice family shots, and not many of me and my daughter since I am the one usually taking pictures.
I just gad my first baby on March 17th so this is my first Mothers Day. What I have asked my husband for is a pandora charm, a pedicure, but what I want most is some family photos taken! Also to have a day of no laundry or dishes lol
All I want is for the projects around our house to finally be complete! My friends husband got us four best friends a night at a nice hotel just us girls for Mother’s Day so I’m pretty excited for that too! An uninterrupted night of sleep will make me one happy camper!
All I want is a set of headphones my boys can’t break. I’m not sure that exists tho.
I want a new Fossil watch, fabric (I sew.), and a weekend getaway with my best friend to the spa without the husbands and kids. 🙂
Any kind of watch….actually I’d just like to sleep in and a mimosa when I wake up!
your husband always makes me laugh! and he’s not too bad on the eyes either lol 😉
love how Harlow sits at the head of the table. She looks like the boss of the house (and knowing Harlow, she probably thinks that too)
That box would be great to take to my Mom’s and set up!
I really want a reliable vehicle. Have a feeling mine is on it’s last leg. Taking care of my Mom and getting me and my girlie back and forth to school has taken its toll. ha
I want to deliver a happy and healthy baby girl!!! That’s really all I want but those teapots are pretty cute too!!
Being a SAHM mom, I would like a day where I get taken care of. My dream day I would get to sleep in past 8, have breakfast taken care of, my two boys are happy and not into every single thing, taken out to lunch, naps and quiet time go smoothly, dinner is made by someone else (either by my husband or out again) and then bedtime just magically happens without me. But I am happy with the new laptop my husband has planned for me.
I want a guilt eraser. Maybe it’s a beverage, maybe it’s a drug, maybe it’s a magic wand. But for just 24 hours I want to live guilt free, without feeling bad for working, for checking my iPhone when I’m watching my son at the park, and for letting him watch Daniel Tiger while eating.
A full day of meals and activities that I didn’t have to plan at all would be my dream. I’d be perfectly content with a picture my two year old drew for me.
I want to be able to pee in peace for one entire day. And maybe sleep past 6am – my son is worse then your kids when it comes to waking up in the morning !!!
A massage and get my eyebrows waxed. A little quiet time would do me some good.
for Mother’s Day, I would like a child free, stress free day.
Starting with a massage at the spa at one of the hotels on the beach..
Then lunch brought out to me as I sit by the pool, followed by an adult beverage with a cute little umbrella in it as I lay on a rented beach lounger by the waves.
No sand castles to build, no hold your breathe contests, no little people, yelling MOMMY.
Then after hours of relaxation, Mother’s Day would continue with me going home to a perfectly clean house, well behaved children and dinner prepared by my husband, who would be eternally grateful for everything I do the other 364 days of the year.
Wine. Food that doesn’t need to be cooked or prepped in any way. Lotion for those hard-working mommy hands and feet.
I want an initial necklace with a simple modern look that can grow as our family grows. We are expecting our second child and it is still too early to even know the gender let alone know what their name is going to be. We also haven’t ruled out a third… although the price of daycare may do that on it’s own…
I want a subscription to Birch Box or to Ipsy!!!!
Thanks Mommy Shorts!!!! & Happy Mother’s Day.
I want cheap flowers, perfume, and dinner I didn’t have to cook. 😉
I just want to spend time with my little man- playground, bubbles, ice cream, snuggles. A nap for both of us, and a dinner date with my husband. Perfect day!
For mother’s day, I want home made cards from my young boys (who rarely sit still to do crafty things), breakfast in he’d and a Mani/pedi.
I only want to sleep in!
I’d love a mani/pedi with NO snide comment from my husband about how long it takes.
I’m a subscriber. Hmmmmm….. I want to wake up late, have breakfast & coffee made for me, and then go out & get some macarons from my favorite bakery.
A day alone at Target with wine and sleep.
