Whether you are a stay-at-home mom or a working mom, neither scenario gives you any time to go to the gym. That would be insane. And neglectful. Shouldn’t you be spending that time making baby food from scratch or something?
But this doesn’t matter because moms can easily get a work out accomplished at home. You’ve got a yoga mat, music, maybe some free weights— what could possibly be stopping you??
Oh right. Your fucking kids.
Babies, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, grade schoolers… they all share the same motive: TO STOP YOU FROM DOING WHATEVER IT IS YOU WOULD RATHER BE DOING BY BEING SUPER ANNOYING.
My friend Deva (she of mom parody music video fame) will show you exactly how a workout at home will inevitably go down.
I love Deva more and more every day.

well you hit the nail on the head. You know the “no excuses mom” well I’m the EVERY excuse mom. IT’S IMPOSSIBLE. They are 1, 2, and 5 and yes there goal is : TO STOP ME FROM DOING WHATEVER IT IS I WOULD RATHER BE DOING BY BEING SUPER ANNOYING. And they are REALLY good at achieving their goals!!! I’m still not ready to “embrace my muffin top” I don’t have time.
[…] MommyShorts nails it with why moms can’t workout at home. […]
My son has worked out with me since he was 2 years old yes he gets in my way but he does the full workout with me and will even beg to do a workout on his own. He is 5 now and the hardest trainer I have ever had. He is quick to tell me that I am not doing it like the person on the tv or to let me know that they are not taking a break. He will even help me get into form just like the instructor does to people on the tv. Yes I’d much rather workout alone and in peace but I can’t complain that I have a super fit healthy 5 year old that loves to work out. I even have a video of him around 3 year olds having a complete break down begging me to let him workout. And many many video’s of him actually working out. He was so excited when I got him his own (1 lb.) weights.
