POP QUIZ! If you’re a snowboarder and a dad, what should you do with your kids while you ride?
A) Have them wait in the lodge.
B) Put them in ski school.
C) Take them boarding with you and just hold them the whole time while you do jumps and flips and what not.
If you answered C, you might have the makings of a viral YouTube video!
I’m not sure what to think of this except I would divorce my husband and fight him for full custody rights if he tried this shit.
What do you think? Is this cool? Is this guy nuts? Maybe both? Am I being too judgmental? Maybe he’s such a competent snowboarder that he’s not really putting his kids in danger? Maybe it’s safer than if they tried to snowboard on their own? I mean I almost killed Mazzy (more than once) when I tried to teach her how to ski.
I don’t know anymore.
JUST PLEASE TELL ME THAT WAS ACTUALLY A DOLL ON THE FLIP.
maybe I’m a free-range parent, but we have raised our children to be competent and confident in the activities we love to do, including running, fishing, landscaping, shooting, and cutting down trees. I think that these guys look like they’re appropriately confident in their abilities as snowboarders and are passing that legacy on to their kids. Power on! Make ’em fall in love with it now before they learn to be scared of the unknown!
Oh, man, that makes me nervous just watching! And it’s not even my kid!
Sorry, but that was really dangerous. If an accident had occurred, EVERYONE would be talking about the parents’ lack of judgement in trying something like that. No matter the skill level of the parents, accidents happen, and those children could have been killed or seriously injured. The only reason this video seems impressive is because they were lucky that nothing happened.
I think this was amazing. Those kids get an amazing experience thanks to the awesome skills of their parents. Kids get injured or killed from sledding but parents still take their kids sledding all the time. If we did nothing but think the worst was going to happen we would never have any exciting life experiences. Kids like these grow up to be excited and passionate adults that challenge what society accepts as normal. So amazing that they have these videos of such an exciting activity for these kids.
I like to give parents the benefit of the doubt. Sure, I got nervous watching once or twice, but I also get nervous watching my son ride his bike off a curb. I think this dad is sharing his passion with his kids in a way that they clearly love, and really only he knows his skill level and can judge how safe/unsafe it is. If I were small enough I’d totally hitch a ride!
Meh, that guy knows what he is doing. Kid’s will come up with worse crap to do on their own anyway. The stuff my brother and cousin’s did that our parent’s never knew about would turn their hair white. I have two tiny boys. I have resigned myself. HAHA. But in all seriousness, That dad loves that little girl or he wouldn’t be spending time with her. He would never put her in danger – risk, perhaps, but if we don’t teach our kid’s how to take risks, who will? Those flips could lead to her being a top CEO someday 🙂
We are lucky every day we get to our destination when we drive, walk down the street, take a plance, or do any number of ordinary daily activities. I lived at a ski resort in France during the ski season and the instructors there are amazing. In 3 months I did not ever see an instructor fall. Skiing to them is like walking- second nature. If an accident happened, it would be just that, an accident. And the girls were wearing helmets, so they were wearing proper gear. Just skiing in general you can injure yourself.
I think it’s awesome. Those girls look like they were having a fabulous time.
