One of the things I love about being blogger is that sometimes a brand motivates you do something that you really want to do, but would probably never have gotten around to doing on your own. In this case, Cheerios asked me to make a video of all my favorite moments over the past year— not just the perfectly instagrammable moments, but the perfectly imperfect moments too. The laughs, the messes, the chaos, the craziness— all the fun stuff that really defines being a parent.
Behold my family. The part that doesn’t fit within the confines of a silent square.
Thank you, Cheerios for asking me to celebrate my family and parenthood in such a fun way! Plus, now that all the random videos I had sitting on my phone are compiled into one watchable video, it’s like everything I did all year suddenly makes sense! Thanks to my assistant Allie for editing everything together. Mazzy and Harlow thank you too. They laughed and laughed when I showed them the video and then shouted “AGAIN!!!” when it was over.
This is the childhood I want them to remember and for Mike and I to look back on when we are older. The glorious mess of it all.
This month, I’m partnering with Cheerios to give away a Roomba (worth $499.99) + a Cheerios prize pack! To enter, post any photos you have of your kid(s) making a big mess with Cheerios (hopefully on accident and not staged on purpose) using the hashtag #CheeriosEverywhere to your social media channel of choice. Make sure to mention @mommyshorts or @averageparentproblems so I know you posted it to enter the contest. FYI, posting a new photo as opposed to hashtagging an old photo will make it much more likely that I see it.
I’ll be awarding the grand prize to my favorite photo and posting it on @averageparentproblems on January 31st!

This post was sponsored by Cheerios but all footage of my crazy kids is my own. Obviously.
This video was amazing! I can’t believe how much fun, happiness and love your family fit into one year. I also loved that you actually appeared in the video, not just the kids 🙂
Awesome! I need my own Allie to make one of those videos for me!!
Right?! I need someone to make sense of all the random videos I take!
What a lovely video!
Love! What an awesome video!
This is a great video! I don’t have a sister but your girls looks so lucky to have each other.
Love, love, love the video!
Love this video! And great way to summarize a year. Can you please tell me what app or program you used to edit your videos together into that one piece?
This video. Can you come take video of my kids and compile it into the same awesomeness as this? Nice job, super sweet, I LOVE it!
Hey! Can you please tell me what program Allie made this in? It’s beautiful & something I’ve wanted to do with all the videos I have, but I just don’t know how. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Best,
Michelle
This is so fun and a great pick-me-up. Im a single mom to a 4 yr old little girl who has been begging me for a sibling. lol I love the connection Mazzy and Harlow have. I grew up with a sister and brother and think siblings are precious. I lost my sister 5 years ago so I especially enjoy watching Mazzy and Harlow and their connection. Makes me remember fondly the things my sister and I did as kids.
what is Mazzy short for? I love it!
