Remember @Insta2yearold? That’s the Instagram account from Harlow’s perspective. Yes, she’s still two on Instagram. No plans to age any time soon. The account is still going strong but recently it had a brand new surge of activity.
A few weeks ago, after the Muslim Ban, I posted a picture of Harlow’s American Girl Doll who just so happens to be a Jewish immigrant from Russia. The pic (with accompanying caption) got such a great response, it occurred to me that a two-year-old is exactly the right person to speak her mind about what’s currently going on in our country. After all, this administration is effecting our country’s future, which really belongs to our kids.
Insta2yearold is female, opinionated and planning to take on the world by storm. Who better to voice her political opinions?
In addition to the pics and captions, there has been lots of discussion underneath in the comments. Mostly support but also a few voices of dissent. Some flat out don’t agree with her, while others don’t think it’s appropriate for me to post this stuff on “a two-year-old’s” page. Some are just mad that I am ruining an account that they once liked.
I get it. But it’s giving me a place to channel my anger in a way that’s cathartic and hopefully enjoyable for others. Plus, maybe a two-year-old could actually influence someone. In any case, she is certainly going to keep speaking up. The support definitely outweighs the negativity.
Here’s what @Insta2yearold’s been up to…

Obviously, there are tons of big issues she still wants to address and sadly, this administration will continue to supply no shortage of material.
Follow @insta2yearold on Instagram to see what she posts next. And please engage in the comments! The more support, the better.

LOVE IT! I think its a GREAT idea!
Yep, definitely sad this lighthearted account (and your others…and blog) have skewed so far left. I understand and respect your point of view, I just miss the old content.
I hear you. I think I am at an odd crossroads where I don’t really have “universal baby” content anymore because my kids are growing up. At the same moment, there is a ton of crazy political stuff going on and that’s really the only thing that I find myself interested in reading. But it really isn’t the only thing on my blog. I have a lot of new travel stuff (like my trip to Mont Tremblant posted last night and if all goes as planned, my trip to Disney is posting next week) and I did stuff like the Kid’s Oscars the other day and we’re shooting a Valentine’s Day date tomorrow afternoon. Plus I’m in the process of editing a video of Harlow and Mazzy baking challah. But to be truthful, I really am getting the most response to the political stuff because I suspect, like me, that’s what other people are interested in reading right now too. Also, if you were really paying attention, you would have noticed that I wasn’t posting nearly as much on Insta2yearold last year because I found that I had to keep revisiting the same jokes— picky eating, potty training etc. So I didn’t really take this lighthearted account away from anyone— they just didn’t notice that it was missing.
Perfect response Mommy Shorts! Everything you said is so true and I so agree, did not notice your 2yearold account wasn´t posting that much and I think it´s a genius way to use your platforms. I totally understand how you can run out of ideas, althought you keep surprising me everyday. Greetings from a fan of yours in Mexico (on the border city with the US, who is not a mom but loves your content)
Loving them all! Please keep em coming! And I think it’s a great way of getting the messages across, and even better from a two year (now four?) Old’s perspective.
I LOVE them ❤❤❤
OMG I LOVE THIS!!!!! Love and humor is DEFINITELY the way to go and I really appreciate that Harlow is “woke,” even if some people give her mommy crap over it. It is hard but necessary to stay engaged if we want to be responsible citizens… and yeah, this stuff is EVERYWHERE, so ignoring it sends a message, too…
I really appreciate the you chose the message of love instead of privileged avoidance, which is such an easier road to take.
Besides, one of the reasons I was attracted to your blog all those years ago is that you were honest, without fear of how you would appear or offending people. I was ridiculously excited when I saw an “F” bomb in the first post of yours I read.
Stay true, stay woke, we love you!!!!
Insta2yearold is becoming one of my favorite snarky commentators! I love it! Keep up the great work!
I think that what you are doing is great. I imagine as a blogger, it would be easy to just keep putting up content, and steer clear of being socially active for fear of losing followers. What you are doing is so much better. Yes, potty training is important, and the stories are funny, but you do have a voice, and we do want to hear it. Besides, I imagine you gain more than you lose, in many ways.
And… Insta2yearold strikes me as a firecracker who would let her opinions be known 🙂
Keep it up, on all platforms and accounts! I love the turn some of your posts have taken recently.
I have been reading your blog since before I was a parent because the writing was so funny and real. Now that I have a son, I really relate to your posts. But more now, I admire you for standing true to your beliefs and speaking out about your views. It must be hard to constantly be bashed for your political views but, I think, its refreshing to have a funny, alternative and honest view on today’s topics. (Maybe it helps that I’m 100% in agreement with your posts). Either way, I would continue to read and support your blog (I bought your book!). But I do love how you are able to respectfully get your point across in a funny way. Ignore the haters and keep it coming. I love it!
I LOVE this stuff on Harlow’s page. It makes me smile at some of the craziness and it takes what can be some harsh stuff and shows it in a funny and different light. Keep it up. Quoting my most favorite pic from the women’s march.. I love naps, but I stay woke.
I think this strikes such a great balance, actually. It’s cute while also making a statement. There’s so much depressing news out there that being able to make a joke out of it really helps!
You are great. Your kids are great. We love you bigly.
Nevertheless, she persisted. Keep it up, Harlow!
Being a parent means standing up for your kids. And currently I think you’re doing exactly that by speaking out and working to create a better world for them. You’re not alone. We must create a better future for our kids, and with fellow parents like you out there, I have confidence that we will.
In other words, keep it up!
I love it! It is your account and your daughter. If someone doesn’t like the content then move on. I’m the type of person who wants to hear all sides, I want to learn as much as I can (and or stomach) so I can make intelligent decisions for myself and my children. What I truly love about this is getting the humor and love out of your posts. What is happening in our world is so depressing and to put a little bit of a funny twist to it makes it a little bit more bearable to take in. It’s why we love to watch things like The Daily Show. It breaks up the constant barrage that all the network news stations and papers put out.
I say keep up the good work!
I think it is awesome that you found a way to use “Harlow’s” page. (Trolls do know she doesn’t write it, right?) I was missing it last year, and I think this is an awesome way to keep it alive.
Insta2yearold is my new favorite instagram account! She says what we have all been thinking. #ImWithHarlow
Thank you for all this content and more. We all need to speak up for what is so blatantly wrong in our country today. Things are terrifying so we need to persist #themoreyouknow
Please, please just use the correct form of “affect” vs “effect” (verb vs noun). Perhaps this has just has been drilled into me as a scientist, but an error that jumps out to me right away.
