GIVEAWAY: 5 Boxes of Back to School Clothes from Kidbox
A few weeks ago, Mazzy, Harlow and I were invited to a party thrown by Kidbox, a seasonal subscription box for kids’ clothes. The party was to celebrate their 2nd birthday and also to bring together their “Kid Board of Directors,” a group of kids selected because they share Kidbox’s philanthropic mission of helping others and giving back.
In fact, many of them have already started non-profits of their own. Sidney Keys III (age 12) started Books N Bros Reading Club, which facilitates meet ups of 7-12yo boys to encourage literacy and bring awareness to positive African American literature. Ella R. Tyron (age 8) has made it her mission to supply children’s hospitals with enough crayons for every child patient. And you might know Naomi Wadler (age 11) from her powerful speech at the March for Our Lives Rally in DC about the disproportionate number of black women and girls who are victims of gun violence.
Mazzy became fast friends with child actress and Kidbox Ambassador, Brooklynn Prince (age 8), who you might know from her award winning role in The Florida Project. She is an advocate for the Community Hope Center, a non-profit which assists low-income, poverty level families and individuals living in and around Osceola County, Florida.
It was really an honor to have Mazzy and Harlow in a room with all of these inspiring young kids, so they could see firsthand that you don’t have to be an adult to make a difference. We also learned that Kidbox has a mission of their own called “One Box at a Time.” Their goal is to help clothe as many children in need as possible by donating one item of clothing for every box sold.
I am always looking for brands that put “doing good” at the forefront of their business practices, so I am so excited to announce that I will be partnering with Kidbox this year.
To kick off our partnership, Mazzy and Harlow got to attend a session about bullying where they learned that positive messages can impact behavior and that clothing can help spread those messages.
All the kids in the room got the opportunity to design t-shirts with slogans centered around anti-bullying. They talked through their designs with Kidbox’s Design Director and picked color swatches for them to be made into real shirts that they can wear.
This is Mazzy’s:
This is Harlow’s:
After they completed their designs, Mazzy and Harlow were whisked away into another room where they got to unbox a summer box of Kidbox clothing. Unlike some of the other kid clothing subscription services, Kidbox contains both their own brand and a variety of other high quality brands. Mazzy and Harlow’s boxes contained clothing from brands like 7 for All Mankind, Splendid, Butter and more.
And I have to say, they really NAILED both Mazzy and Harlow’s style.
They’ve been wearing their summer clothes for the past few weeks and just got their Back-to-School boxes.
Harlow was so in love with her back-to-school items, that she got mad at the term “back-to-school” and demanded to wear her new off the shoulder shirt IMMEDIATELY. You can watch her her hilarious HOT TAKE on the term “back-to-school clothes” here.
Mazzy does not love dresses but she LOVES her new “The Future is Female” t-shirt dress and has been wearing it every single day when she gets home from camp.
There also was a plethora of unicorn themed attire to make everyone happy.
In each Kidbox (which is designed specifically so that kids can color the boxes), there are also fun alphabet stickers, a few fun gifts (like a pencil case and a water bottle in the back to school box) and a newspaper called “The Scribble.” Each Scribble has a theme, with helpful articles for both parents and kids, along with a spotlight on a charities they are supporting this season.
For back to school, anyone who keeps their full box gets to choose between donating to to a charity supporting homeless families, victims of domestic abuse, or Puerto Rico relief. Kidbox’s belief is that it’s never too early to start talking to your kids about ways to give back, so they created a really easy way to involve your kids and help them figure out what causes are most important to them. In addition to helping these charities, by the end of this summer, the company is on course to donate $8.5 million in new clothing, having clothed one million kids.
There are five seasonal boxes: spring, summer, back-to-school, fall and winter. You can sign your kids up, have them take their “style quiz,” and order your back to school box here!

Cradles to crayons!
Some of the causes that I have really worked on with my own kids has been donating to the Ronald McDonald House and Jump Rope For Heart (The American Heart Association). My boys really take the causes to heart, especially my oldest who is 8 and has a pretty good grasp on what the money can do to help those people. This isn’t a cause necessarily but my oldest also feels strongly about litter on the ground and we often become the neighborhood trash collectors when we take walks. If only he felt the same way about cleaning his room…
Love Together Rising! Just found out about KidBox & would love to try it with my boys.
Hard to choose, but one that’s near and dear is the Military Child Education Coalition. They advocate for our nation’s military children who attend an average of 6-9 schools during their K-12 years. They provide support and training for kids, parents and educators.
International Justice Mission!!! Let’s stop slavery and human trafficking!
girl power 2 cure (rett syndrome)
Special Olympics is our family’s favorite charity.
Empty Bowls and Make A Wish
Make-a-wish Foundation..
My daughter is a cancer survivor. We donate to St Baldricks regularly to help fund research for better treatments for kids like Harper.
Ronald mcdonald house
I love Crayons to Computers which makes it possible for teachers at low income schools and districts but allowing them to “shop” for supplies for free when people complete volunteer hours on their behalf. I also support the Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
ACLU or Planned Parenthood!
Cure SMA!! A good friend of mine had her first baby 2 years ago. About 7 weeks in, he stopped being able to move. They discovered he had Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
SMA is a disease that robs people of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe. It is the number one genetic cause of death for infants.
She was lucky enough to get her son, Tristan, elected to receive Spinraza, which helps to deter any more muscle loss.
I would love to see this be a regular genetic test done on parents when they are trying to conceive to see if they carry the gene, and infants as soon as they are born. If Tristan had been tested at birth, his life with spinraza would have been dramatically different.
Vanessa, Tristan’s mama is his biggest advocate and works so hard to give him the best quality life and to help other mom’s experiencing the same.

we always donate to world wildlife fund, but i think we need to do some reseatch on charitirs that help people as well
Planned Parenthood!
Make-a-wish is our favorite
Our town has a weekend snack pack program that sends home food for the weekend for kids who’s families may by be able to feed them on the weekends.
No Kid Hungry, because no child should be without food!
Make a wish
Favorite charity is Fisher House which uses donations to house and support military families when they have a wounded soldier so they will be able to stay near them.
I also love Angel Gowns which uses donated wedding gowns to make burial gowns for babies who passed away in the hospital. It’s both sad and beautiful.
And generically I support anything that encourages children to read.
Safe Passage, our local domestic violence shelter. A friend and I just attended their annual Wine Stroll last weekend for the second year in a row.
Planned Parenthood or those that support military families.
Wounded Warriors and SemperFiK9
My favorite cause is any fundraiser for our dear friend’s beautiful 15 year old daughter who is on Hospice for cancer. St. Jude’s is a really great cause.
Planned parenthood. As the mother of two daughters I’m always looking for varied ways to support their future. In today’s climate, I want them to know that they have support and should support others who need it. And that they are in control of their bodies, the destinies, and their choices.
First, this is such a great idea! And I love hearing about these inspiring kids. It gives me such hope for the future. In our household, we actually support 2 charities – the PKD Foundation and ASPCA. Both are very important to us.
My favorite cause is Moms Demand Action. If anyone can be sensible about guns, it’s moms.
I think that the Make A Wish foundation is a great charity! and the Ronald McDonald House!
March of dimes
Planned Parenthood for sure. As a mom of two (soon to be three) girls, I can’t stomach a country where their medical needs would potentially go unmet due to the political stances of strangers and/or diminished financial situations.
My favorite cause is comprehensive sexuality education. I’m a volunteer facilitator with a program called Our Whole Lives, and I’m trained to work with folks all the way from kindergarten on up. I’m also trained to train people to facilitate classes. I believe SO strongly in the program’s values of Respect, Relationship, and Responsibility (for the younger groups); and Self Worth, Sexual Health, Responsibility, and Justice and Inclusivity for older kids and adults. I could talk about the importance of this program and others like it for hours.
The American Heart Association (heart disease and stroke are the #1 and #5 killers in the US) and a local women’s shelter (abused moms and their kids need all the help we can provide) are my two favorite charities!
Outside The Bowl- a program that feeds hungry children in many different countries…. but we have been involved with the kitchen that is in Tijuana, Mexico. My middle school children have done fundraisers called, Starving to Seeve” where they get donations for not eating for 30 hours. Sounds harsh….but they are teens and it is such a huge lesson on what “ starving” really means to so many people. They never tell me they are starving to eat because they know that many children go says between meals. OTB is an amazing charity.
Introducing kids to programs like “kids box” and the like helps to grom them into responsible adults.
Dress for Success is a favorite because it not only does good but it empowers women and gives them the foundation to change their lives and in turn, their entire families’ lives.

We got our boxer from this organization and they do selfless rescues and fosters all the time
I love the whole concept and vission behind kidbox- I think it is great for kids to see you csb be philanthropic at any age. I would lovr tk try their services out on my tween daughter, for like you, i am “shopping impaired’ and mt daughter beats to her own style drum
The Ronald McDonald House Charities are great as well as Girls On The Run 🙂
We love supporting the Ronald McDonald House, which assisted our extended family during an incredibly hard time. We also regularly support The Salvation Army and Compassion International.
My husband’s maternal grandfather was a German Jew who escaped the Holocaust by moving to Guatemala. He was an incredible man who composed music, taught, and even founded a school for the deaf and blind in Guatemala. I think about all the incredible people who were killed in the Holocaust and were never able to make an impact on the world. So in memory of those who were lost we donate to US Holocaust Museum to help continued teaching that dark chapter in world history, hoping that it will never happen again.
We also donate to the Fisher House, an organization that provides housing and support for families of military members that have been injured and have long recovery times. It helps alleviate the cost of parents and spouses face when having to be away from home to support their loved ones’ recovery.
ACLU is my favorite cause right now because no families should be separated.
Make-A-Wish! Provides a positive and lasting experience for kids during a very dark time.
I definitely like to donate locally whether that’s my kids school or other schools in our district or food banks or boys and girls clubs. Also even just donating nicely used clothes and toys we don’t use anymore other than selling it online or having a garage sale. It’s so important to teach our kids how much good we can do and incorporating little things like that often. I also love to support causes that kids get involved in.
There is a local charity near us that I love to volunteer with, it’s called with love. It supports foster children and their families!
OUR Rescue is my favorite cause because the people who work here risk their lives in order to go and rescue children from human trafficking. Then they offer resources and support to the people they have saved so they go on and live happy, meaningful lives.
I am a huge supporter of RAINN as well as out local women’s shelter, The Women’s and Children’s Alliance.

What a thoughtful company to partner with!
Recently I have been really interested in TAPS (tradegy assistance programing) it is a military based program nationwide that offers grief camps and counseling for familys who have lost loved ones in the military either in combat or in the after effects of having served. I am a high school teacher but I have a masters degree in art therapy and volunteering for this program allows me to teach AND provide a service for those grieving such a loss. I also support ACLU and and local school organizations I can!!
I love the charity Case for Smiles- they sew pillowcases for children staying in the hospital. Such a simple thing that can help a child be less scared away from home!

We’ve donated to a few, but right now we’re passionate about Parkinson’s research. My mom was diagnosed a few years ago, and every day is a struggle for her as the disease progresses. She is now the proud grandma to 15 grandkids under the age of 10!
I’ve thought about doing Kid Box as I do Stitch Fix and my kids always love to help me unbox it! We have a local charity called West Side Cares that is close to our heart. They not only help families with clothes, food and shelter but also life skills like applying for jobs, interviewing and transportation.
World Wildlife Fund and The Nature Conservancy!
Sf-Marin food bank. they’re local and do amazing work for the community!
Parkinson’s Research and Kitten Lady’s Orphan Kitten Club
A local one: Mustard Seed School- a free preschool and elementary for homeless kids to drop into.
We are very passiknate about mental health in chilcren. My son has ADHD and anxiety and it can be so hard watching such big emotions on a small child. Because their difference are invisibles many times other parents van be so judgmental and making friends for them gets harder as they get older. Education is key to dispelling so.many myths surrouding these diagnosis.
I really love make a wish and st. Jude’s. My niece niece got brain cancer in 2010 and they reached out to her. Both organizations were really great, unfortunately she did not make it but they resources and help they offered while she was alive was amazing.
Planned Parenthood!
Beagle Freedom Project! They do so much to help free animals, not just beagles, from animal testing. As a beagle owner, it breaks my heart to see companies take advantage of the beagles caring demeanor.
On a side note, I love the idea of having random clothes, based of your child’s like/dislikes, nailed to your house. Clothes shopping is exhausting, ha ha!
Love your melon or sand cloud.
St. Jude’s
I love Make A Wish and Ronald McDonald House
University of Iowa Children’s Hosptial (a local hospital that we LOVE because it takes care of kiddos in need!)
March of Dimes! As an OB nurse, this organization is near and dear to my heart to help promote healthy moms and healthy babies!

DC diaper bank!
Any organization that helps kids and families in foster care is near and dear to my heart.
ACLU
Wigs 4 Kids!
Bernie’s Book Bank! Providing low income children in Chicago with high quality books. Books for a better life!
My favorite place/charity to donate to would definitely be the mother and child center! When I found myself pregnant at 16 they helped soooo much. Free classes, maternity clothes, food, baby items up until age 5,, and lots of other resources. Now whenever I get a chance to give back I do!
I love Preemptive Love Coalition. It helps children in dangerous areas in the Middle East get necessary heart surgery and also helps families recovering from trauma from ISIS.
Make A wish and no kid Humgry.
Currently my daughter and I make regular visits to Feed My Starving Children. She enjoys making the food packets and watching the videos of the country with a child’s story, depending on where we are packing food for that day.
We have a local charity here called The Birthday Joy program. They help shelters and parents in need provide birthday parties (cake, present, decorations) for their young children.
American Cancer Society
Humanity and Inclusion- i’ve Worked for them previously in Haiti and i have a lot of respect for how the organization is run. They assist vulnerable populations such as women, children, elderly, and those with disabilities to access services particularly is areas where there has been natural disaster or war.
Lemons of love. An organization that creates gift bags for cancer patients.
Make A Wish and St Jude. Everything for the kids
Samaritans Purse! ❤️
I love Brookes Collective, a startup from South Africa that focuses on making and selling ethical fashion.
My favorite charity is called For Pete’s Sake. They provide cancer respite experiences to adults ages 24-55 and their family. It was started by a family friend and had done wonderful things for so many families during a difficult time.
My daughter Maddie has the same pineapple dress that Mazzy has on in these pictures! So cute. They remind me a lot of each other – especially the part where she loves to only wear sneakers!!
